Where did you start, and where are you now? (First vs Current setup)

Today I planned a little trip through time. I’m sure everyone remembers that moment when they first swapped smoke for vapor, and also that often amusing technique with which we took our very first steps.

Let’s see how far everyone has come! What was your very first e-cig, and what is your current everyday favorite?

Sometimes it’s quite striking to see the contrast as the market and our own needs have evolved over the years. To set the tone, I’ll start with my own:

The very first: Probably a classic eGO stick W series from 2013 – the first liquid was USA Mix and something nutty. I remember the first one was 9mg/ml, then after about 10ml I switched to 6mg/ml, these were still factory liquids. Looking back, it wasn’t bad, it did its job. Here’s a picture from the past where it’s half visible. Granted, this was already my cooler metal-cased upgrade…

The current one: A Dani Mini, with a Dvarw MTL FL tank on it. 3mg/ml, more of a tobacco line, and cooling fruity ones, DIY mixed of course.

If someone back in the eGO era had told me that I would one day be vaping with such an engineering-precise, high-end German-Hungarian combo, I probably would have looked at them in disbelief. But here we are, and who knows what the future holds…

What was your very first setup that got you started, and what rests on your table, in your pocket right now?

Unfortunately, I no longer have a picture of my very first device, but it had a very silly name. Horizontech Magico Nic Salt Stick Kit in carbon black edition.

Vaping Underground’s 6mg base liquid + Big Mouth - Cherry Cola liquid. I have no idea what I felt about it anymore, but I knew it could only get better.

Currently, I use Dovpo Flipside squonk mod + single-coil RDA setups.

Thanks to experienced vapers, I have already mastered mixing liquids. Back then, I couldn’t even imagine that I would be calculating the correct amounts of ingredients for mixing on a jewelry scale.

My very first encounter was in early 2011, I don’t have an original photo. The E-health… Cotton candy-like flavor, lasts 1 hour/cartridge I had to go to the hospital and the smoking ban came into effect, so that was the trial. (Let’s say afterwards I quickly bought a double 650 mAh EGO small kit and 24 mg Hangsen e-liquids…

I had similar experiences around 2007. I would just add flavor to my 36mg Hangsen base and that was it. Since 2013, I’ve been keeping track of things with a Kayfun RTA and a Semovar mod.

Hi everyone!! I started with a Justfog qQ16pro, I only have a photo!

I started with a ready-made liquid with Bourbon vanilla flavor, 12mg, in February 2023! It wasn’t a bad device but I personally never tasted anything, so I vaped it for about three-quarters of a year , because for various personal reasons I couldn’t log in here! There was no advice, I thought it was like this! Now I have several tanks that are my favorite, but I really like this one a lot now!! Blade !! And yes, the device has changed since then too!

If I remember correctly, in September 2020, I switched from analog cigarettes to a Joyetech AIO like this. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of it, but it was like this in black, with stock coils!

In the meantime, it turned out that DL is my thing, and by now I’ve managed to accumulate a small fleet, of course with my own DIY mixes!

I also started with an Ego.

I don’t remember the exact model, but I’ll show you how it looked in the attached web image. I threw it away a long time ago, it didn’t last long. With this, I didn’t quite manage to switch from cigarettes completely, it was only good for a kind of testing the waters.

I replaced the Ego with another set bought from a former colleague, which I then used for years; it’s still around, resting in a drawer. Eleaf Pico Mega (white) + Eleaf Melo 3 atomizer tank. With this, I finally managed to quit smoking. (Web image.)

Initially, I filled them with ready-made e-liquids, then with longfills. After a pack of cigarettes a day, I started with 6 mg, which I quickly switched to 3 mg.

When I found Vaperina, I had been interested in building and mixing my own for a while. The final push came from a lot of reading here and the helpfulness of the community. This is how I found my current favorite.

I placed my trust in this Hungarian product, which lived up to my expectations for a rebuildable tank. Dvarw DL + Centaurus mod, I bought both here and use them with great satisfaction. You’ve already seen this photo of mine:

Today, I mix all my own e-liquids and only use 2 mg now.

I’ve become a mixed user, I also enjoy using the Dvarw MTL FL and Valor RTAs with two other mods. (Eleaf Pico Plus and Dotmod dotbox.)

As for e-liquids, USA Mix was my first too. I’ve tried many things over the years and still enjoy experimenting, but the main path remains the dessert tobacco-ry4 line.

It’s still a mystery where vape evolution will take us, but currently, I’m satisfied with my setup.

Vivo something, the memories are already hazy (I’m getting old) and a Dani 21700 with a Taifun GX style RTA. More DL than MTL, but that doesn’t get neglected either - there’s this kind of versatile use.
Taste-wise, I don’t have a specific favorite, I’m a ‘try-everything’ kind of person, if I like it, it stays in the repertoire.
I also use the squonker style often, and the AIO too.

A precision scale for every vaper!

We have one.
Although so far I’ve only measured perfumes on it that don’t have transparent bottles, so I know how much is in them. Extremely accurate!

(And I put the gold cocoa on it when my kitchen digital scale broke. )

Now that you mention it, I’ll try it for mixing too.

Back in the very beginning, eGo devices, shortly after they became “trendy”, similarly something like USA Mix and RY4. But I didn’t have the right motivation, so I failed.
Then around 2017-18, Kangertech - Kanger Subox Mini Starter Kit. I didn’t even know what DL or MTL was, it was a very cool device, but for the aforementioned reasons, I failed.
And then there’s today, which started about 3-4 years ago, when that damn spot, or rather spots, were found in me, that’s when I finally managed to switch permanently and I’m still using the stuff I bought at the beginning, around today.
Geekvape Aegis Legend 2 and a Hellvape HEll200 mod (the latter thanks to @gangsta_gergo).
Alternating DL and MTL, tobacco flavors only with MTL, cool fruit with DL.
I had a few good atomizers, I stuck with the Blaze Solo, Geekvape subohm tank, and for MTL, the Expromizer v4.
Also, a ‘theatrical’ or show-off, chick-magnet Kizoku Techmod Kit.
I don’t really crave much more

I had everything for it, but since I wanted to inhale like a cigarette, and in reality it was more DL, I mostly ended up with coughing fits, which really affected my motivation. On top of that, “tobacco” flavors - for me - were still in their infancy back then, or at least I was terrible at finding good ones… I was ordering from some shop located on Oktogon… Ultimately, the point is that even if a bit later, I found the enjoyment in vaping

I’ll also openly admit that I was (I hope I’m not anymore) the sucker, etc.
It was an amateur mistake on my part. I regret it.

For the Expromizer v4 MTL MTL.

I wouldn’t trade them for anything now , of course, they have their quirks.

(By the way, I also gave up on my first vaping ‘golden age’, or rather, didn’t take it seriously at all… and the fact that back then, there wasn’t yet a satisfying and RELIABLE MTL setup for me played a role in this.)
