I would like to reduce the nicotine, or eliminate it completely. I mainly vape fruity liquids mixed to 10mg from an MTL tank. My problem is that below 10mg I don’t properly feel the throat hit, so I always revert to higher nicotine content. Is there perhaps a proven method to increase this? In a previous thread, someone recommended using Kanthal D instead of Kanthal A1, which supposedly increases it. What else helps with this?
A tank that is stronger in terms of TH. @Zoli76 will share his repertoire (he is the TH hardliner in the group )…but just a few days ago there was a TH tank for sale here.
However, you can be sure that zero nickel will not be TH.
Hey! Sure, I can help you with this TH (throat hit) thing!
PG (propylene glycol) is indeed a good base because it’s primarily responsible for the throat hit, but there are a few more tricks up my sleeve to enhance it, even with lower nicotine:
Menthol or cooling additives: These on their own provide a pleasant, cooling sensation in the throat, which helps many people compensate for the lack of nicotine in terms of throat hit.
Spicy or “tobacco” flavors: Certain flavors, such as cinnamon, clove, or various tobacco flavors, naturally have a stronger throat hit. It’s worth experimenting with these.
Higher wattage, lower resistance: If your device allows it, you can try a slightly higher power setting or a lower resistance coil (e.g., around 0.8-1.0 Ohm for MTL). This can result in more intense vapor and, consequently, a stronger throat hit.
Wire type: As Bence7 also mentioned, Kanthal A1 wire might help instead of Kanthal D, but it’s also worth trying other wire types, like NiChrome (Ni80) wire, which can also provide a slightly “grittier” feeling.
Airflow: A tank with tighter airflow (like the Galaxies MTL) provides a stronger throat hit by default, but if you have the option, try to restrict it even further if your tank allows.
Zsolt68 was also right that a tank inherently designed for TH can make a big difference. The Galaxies MTL is one such tank, but if you do decide to switch, it’s worth looking around the market; there are MTL tanks specifically made for this purpose.
It’s important to experiment with all of these cautiously, so you don’t end up with an unpleasant experience!
Hi, besides the TH-based MTL tanks, I also recommend tapering gradually. Try not to reduce it drastically all at once, as that will be noticeable and you won’t enjoy it. But if you reduce it slowly, step by step, at certain intervals—10, 9, 8, etc.—it won’t be as noticeable. This helped me. I am already down to 2 mg, which currently suits me perfectly.
Depending on the settings, the Expromizers can also provide a strong TH, and my lowest resistance tank is the Gwekvape Ammit MTL. It is worth turning the wattage up a bit. The base PG is higher… stronger flavored aromas.
Fortunately, the B80 gives me the expected TH even without fiddling… even though the coil isn’t running extremely high.
But maybe I’m also satisfied with a little less TH now…who the hell knows…maybe something in my habit has changed, but it’s good this way.
What is certain, however, is that your Ammit rips your tonsils out it gives such a TH.
I didn’t say plain menthol, but a cooling additive. Coolada (Coolada) contains no menthol; it cools the liquid and, along with that, increases the throat hit, making the liquid harsher and slightly spicier. My best vaper buddy has been using Coolada (Coolada) in his liquids for 4 years so he can maintain the 1 strength in RY4.
I specifically have been using the Fresh additive from A&L for quite some time. They don’t state that it’s coolada, or whatever, but it has no aftertaste and delivers the excellent cooling effect I’m used to from A&L flavors.
But anyway, you can search for “coolada” in most webshops. In principle, it is a flavorless cooling additive. Menthol brought an unpleasant aftertaste for me.
