I am using a Lost Vape Q200 device with a Geekvape Z 5 Sub Ohm tank.
With a well-mixed 70VG/30PG ratio e-liquid, which is recommended for it, the coil simply gets a burnt taste within a few days, and I practically feel no flavor. I don’t know what the problem could be…
Does anyone have any experience? I am currently using a 0.4 Ohmcoil. Is the tank itself a bad batch? Would it be worth buying another one for it?
The most common issue is that the flavoring gunk up a lot and burn onto the atomizer coil after a few days. Possible solutions include changing the flavor, using a thinner mix, or more frequent atomizer (coil) replacement.
The higher the power (W) you use, the faster the wear and tear; you can also reduce the power…
…or open up the airflow and thus your coil will cool down more effectively!
There are flavors, typically very sweet ones or e.g. organic tobacco, where we re-wick daily. Consider rebuilding your own coils!
For about a week now. It was the same before, just in a different color. The previous one also had a similar issue where it started to burn quickly, but only sporadically. Now I have a fresh coil in it, specifically only a few days old. Using my own mixed e-liquid, so the ratio is perfect. I don’t understand what the problem could be. The coil itself isn’t even gunked up, I checked it earlier. Yet it’s burning.
I would start from the indicated minimum wattage (if there’s writing on it) on the atomizer. I would increase the power watt by watt until it’s satisfactory. Of course, ignoring the device’s own pre-programmed settings, if possible.
Unfortunately, a new atomizer and patience are needed for the experiment.
edit: regardless of everything, you are 1-2 steps away from building your own coil - RTA, etc.
I think the problem is with the liquid. Either it’s too thick and/or too sugary, with sweeteners, (perhaps a lot of coloring). What flavor concentrate is mixed in? How did you prepare the current liquid, what did you put in it and how much, what brand, etc.? It would be important to know this too. Maybe try diluting it with PG, so the cotton wicks the liquid more easily (e.g., to a 60vg/40pg ratio).
I precisely measured it, mixed 120ml, with 10ml of nicotine.
I ordered the PG VG liquid from the Flora vita site. There’s definitely no issue with the quality, I also mix for others in exactly the same ratio as for myself, and they don’t have this problem. The coil head lasts up to a month without a burnt taste, with the same resistance.
Now I diluted it a bit with PG, let’s see how long it lasts. Plus, the coil head is also fresh.
I haven’t experienced extreme coil gunk with Kung Fruits flavors, so I would also rule out this ‘issue’.
Perhaps, how low do you usually let the tank get? One of the disadvantages of these coil heads is that if the liquid level in the tank drops below the cotton part of the coil, it can’t wick upwards as well. This way, the cotton around the entire mesh coil gets less saturated and the coil head burns out faster.
