This is because Kanthal heats up slower, which is why there are fewer Kanthal claptons that work well. It’s a multi-factor thing, core size, wire gauge, etc… And if we run Kanthal claptons at very high wattage, they will get extremely hot, because they heat up slower than other materials even at higher wattages.
