Voopoo Vinci Spark 220 Kit Review

This time I received a whole two-battery kit from Sourcemore, which is none other than the Voopoo Vinci Spark 220 Kit! Although it only operates with 3 modes: Smart, RBA, and TC-TCR, the GENE TT 2.0 Chipset in the mod performs outstandingly well, meeting expectations. I don’t even need to mention it anymore, as it has become customary that we will have a perfect and consistent experience from the first puff to the last in terms of battery life. Despite being a dual-battery device, the Spark 220 mod is not too large, measuring only 148 x 45 x 29mm, and the Uforce X tank is 29 x 52.95mm and holds 5.5ml of liquid with its factory-fitted glass. The kit itself is incredibly light without batteries, weighing only 108 grams! The protections are, of course, the usual ones, including short-circuit protection, overcharge protection, overheat protection, output overcurrent protection, and reverse polarity protection. The latter means that if you insert the batteries incorrectly, the device will not turn on. Puffs can be a maximum of 8 seconds long, and naturally, low battery protection is also included. It features a 1.47" display that takes up nearly half of the front panel, on which the minimalist-style displayed data is perfectly readable. The menu system and its navigation are not conventional; they are much more interactive.

The aluminum alloy Spark 220 mod and its accompanying SS Uforce X tank have been released in 7 colors: black-red, black, dark blue, light blue, green, silver, and pink (or fuchsia). The dark colors come with a black tank, which I think was a good decision by the manufacturer. I received the silver, or Tech Silver, version. Let’s see what’s up with it.

Voopoo Vinci Spark 220 Kit Review

Box Contents and Getting Acquainted with the Kit

The kit’s full equipment is just enough; nothing else is needed. For the Spark 220 mod, we get a USB-C charging cable. For the Uforce X tank, we receive a 6.5ml replacement glass (in addition to the 5.5ml one already on it), a pack of spare seals, and a 0.15 and a 0.3 Ohm PnP X atomizer. In addition, there’s the usual user manual, a small leaflet about the PnP X atomizers, and a Warranty Card indicating what kind of batteries absolutely not to put in the device.

The large 1.47" TFT color display immediately catches the eye on the front panel. The small holes underneath hide 84 LEDs that can flash beautifully during use. The back has nothing but the Voopoo logo and a starfall-like pattern. However, if we remove the magnetic back cover, we immediately see the 2 battery slots. The battery contacts visible at the top are spring-loaded, and we also get a ribbon to place under the batteries, which makes them easier to remove by pulling it. They even indicated which is the left and right side of the battery slots…

On the left side of the mod, you can see the multi-functional rotary dial, which also serves as the fire button. On the right side, there’s a slider switch to lock the fire button, and at the bottom, the USB-C port, capable of fast charging at 5V/3A.

The device’s 510 connector is secured by 4 screws for stability. The bottom of the device has nothing but the mandatory pictograms. Not even cooling…

The Uforce X tank is specifically designed for DTL use, which is indicated by the drip tip. The airflow is quite generous, but the PnP X atomizers need it for proper cooling to achieve the manufacturer’s promised lifespan equivalent to vaporizing 100ml of liquid. The tank has a 29mm diameter, which is exactly the same as the top of the mod, but since the mod is rounded, a very, very slight overhang is noticeable. Furthermore, the tank with the 6.5ml (spare) glass matches the mod’s dimensions exactly, so neither glass overhangs. Fortunately, the mod is not prone to tipping over.

Refilling is very simple: just slide the top cap to the side, and you can fill it with any bottle through the rubber membrane of the filling port, for which, as you can see, there’s a small hole to help. Although, a Chubby Gorilla bottle barely fits there. When the top cap is open, looking into the drip tip reveals a tiny hole. This is necessary because it’s where air escapes from the tank, displaced by the liquid, as the membrane seals the filling port quite tightly. This membrane system has a drawback, which is why I don’t particularly like this design: it’s easy to overfill the tank if you’re not careful, so one eye should always be on the small air vent hole opposite the filling port. The atomizer is inserted into the tank with a simple push, then you screw the bottom of the tank back on, and you’re done. Of course, if you don’t want to wait long to use it, prime the atomizer’s cotton before insertion.

The Spark 220 received a pretty impressive menu system, which is not only beautiful but also easy to understand. However, they omitted not exactly essential modes like Bypass or more recently Eco. Honestly, I’m glad because Bypass is a battery killer anyway. Well, let’s enter the menu with 3 quick fire button presses and proceed in order. The first menu item is Mode, where we find the Smart, RBA, and TC-TCR modes. Smart is advisable when using the device with the factory Uforce X atomizer (or any other DTL atomizer) tank, as it can perfectly set the Wattage based on the atomizer’s Ohm value. RBA is understandably the best choice if you intend to use it with a rebuildable tank. TC-TCR is also self-explanatory. You just need to select your wire material, which can be Ni200, Ti, SS316, or SS430, and the mod will handle the rest. The second menu item is Theme, where we can choose the appearance of the user interface from three different themes. The third menu item is Switch, where you can vary the function of the slider switch on the right side of the Spark 220. With Lock Switch, you get a complete device lock that prevents firing, but you can still access the menu after three quick fire button presses. Power Lock, on the other hand, understandably only prevents Wattage adjustment. The fourth menu item is Animation, which only serves to turn off the animation that appears after pressing the fire button or taking a puff, which is on by default. The fifth menu item is Puff Clear, which immediately deletes the puff count as soon as you press it with the fire button. Since it doesn’t ask beforehand if you really want to delete it, and it doesn’t display how many puffs you’ve taken until then in the menu item, I recommend pressing it thoughtfully. The sixth menu item is Light, which simply turns off the small number of 84 LEDs that flash under the display during a puff, whose light show actually reflects the meaning of Spark, which means spark in Hungarian. The seventh menu item is Battery Evaluation, which monitors the battery’s status and condition, but it only works with the 0.15 Ohm atomizer! And I would note here that it’s not a bad thing that Bypass is not among the device’s menu items, because Battery Evaluation exists precisely to monitor the battery’s condition and thus try to protect them, whereas Bypass is just torture for the batteries! The eighth menu item is About Device, which only contains the Chip identification number and the firmware version, whatever the latter may mean… The ninth menu item is Exit, with which we can exit to the main screen. Well, for now, I would write that the menu system has a small flaw, which I hope is visible in the video below, and the rotary knob sometimes messed with me. You can read about these shortly.

So far, it seems quite good, despite the minor flaws. Now I will tell you what I experienced.

Experience Report

Spark 220 Mod
I have no complaints about the overall design and weight of the complete set; it’s absolutely perfect for a two-battery set. The mod itself has a very good weight, in case someone only likes that. Moreover, it’s excellent with an MTL tank, especially in terms of battery life. Both the fire button and the slider switch are in very good positions, making it comfortable to use with one hand. Thanks to its rounded sides, it fits perfectly in the hand. Its weight is also completely acceptable, although since it’s dual-battery, it won’t be entirely pocket-friendly, but it’s very comfortable to hold, even with a tank attached, both in terms of weight. The mod is made of aluminum alloy, so it can withstand almost anything and doesn’t pick up scratches. Of course, it’s still worth being careful because of the large display, which is irreplaceable! Speaking of the display, the visuals are beautiful, and all important values are clearly visible. Although, I do miss one thing from it, which is none other than the current output voltage of the battery during a puff. It’s good to see because it allows us to monitor the battery’s condition; for example, if the battery draws more Volts during a puff than it’s capable of, we can intervene by either lowering the Wattage or replacing the atomizer with one that has a higher Ohm value, which doesn’t strain the battery too much. This is important because if we treat our batteries well, they can last for many years, and we won’t have to buy new ones too often. The LEDs under the display are not harsh on the eyes; in fact, they form very beautiful arcs. Such a small detail as LED lighting can incredibly enhance the mod’s mood, and it’s especially beautiful at night. The magnets on the back of the Spark 220 hold well, and the panel fits perfectly. Although the small slot where we can pry off the back cover with a fingernail could be larger (or wider) and deeper, as it’s a bit harder to remove than usual. The 510 connector is sufficiently secured with the 4 screws on top, so it won’t come loose in an accidental incident. Unfortunately, there are still no cooling holes on the bottom of the mod, but to Voopoo’s credit, since the tank designed for DTL is included, and the PnP X atomizers are also designed for DTL regardless of Ohm value, it won’t overheat during use. However, there should still be some ventilation on the bottom of the mod for the battery, because if I were the manufacturer, I would have thought about the summer season too, because in that heat, even the skin melts off your face.

Multifunctional Rotary Knob with Click Wheel
We do everything in the menu with the multifunctional rotary knob, adjust the power with it, and fire with it. It rotates well, and the click wheel’s rotation is noticeable, although the audible click and tactile step don’t seem frequent enough. This means, as hopefully noticeable in the video above, that the stepping in the menu and the rotary knob itself are not perfectly synchronized. In fact, sometimes the button seems to pull back when we are not exactly between two clicks, which is hopefully also visible in the video, because then it jumps back one menu item. It would have been important for the stepping to be more frequent because, based on previous experiences, we automatically expect the menu item to change simultaneously with the click of the rotary knob, but in reality, it changes between two clicks, and when the button (or rather the rotary knob) retracts, we are no longer where we should be in the menu. And since we have to release the button first to be able to press it for confirmation, we can easily end up in another menu item, which can cause frustration. What makes it even more difficult, in my opinion, is that the button doesn’t always retract, so we can never be prepared for when a surprise will hit us, although perhaps it’s something one can get used to, but it’s quite annoying at first. Of course, it’s possible to avoid accidentally selecting the wrong menu item. All you need to do is not rush, and then you can prevent accidental adjustments. Fundamentally, the button functions well, so that’s not the problem; it’s just that the rotary knob’s timing isn’t precisely tailored to the menu. Or vice versa, the menu isn’t well-timed to the rotary knob. When adjusting Wattage, it’s also noticeable that it doesn’t increase by 1 Watt with every single click, but it steps up between each click, but this doesn’t cause a problem there.

Most pedig összegezzük a fent írtakat.

Szerintem eleve nincs is rá szükség.

Kontra :negative_squared_cross_mark:

  • Nincs összhangban a forgatógomb a menüvel.
  • Nincs a menüpontokban kilépési lehetőség.

The menu is easy to handle, which in this phrasing means its layout is simple and memorable, nothing is overcomplicated. However, there is a small problem here too, which might only be a problem for me, but I think a device with such a rich menu should have it. This is none other than the fact that there is no exit option to the main menu from the menu items; only from the main menu is there an exit option to the home screen. This is not exactly advantageous because if a beginner just wants to look around the menu, but doesn’t yet know what means what, they can easily change anything. We can only exit to the home screen without making changes if we select the same setting that is already set for the given menu item. However, this is where the rotary knob’s foolishness comes in as an error factor. As I wrote above, it sometimes steps back one menu item because the rotary dial is not in sync with the menu system, so if we select the currently set option as an exit, there’s still a chance it will be accidentally changed when the button retracts. There is perhaps only one solution for this, especially for those who will have this as their first device. Read the user manual, or read the part of the experience report where I described the menu system! It contains everything about what means what, and thus it will be easier to navigate the first time, so perhaps no one will find it completely unfamiliar and nothing will be accidentally changed! And of course, until we get used to the navigation, let’s not rush! By the way, if we overlook this error, then it has a very good menu. It’s appealing because it’s interactive and everything on it is clearly visible and easily interpretable, and it’s easy to find what we’re looking for.

Uforce X DTL Tank and PnP X Coils

The Uforce X tank is easy to refill and replacing the coil is also very simple. The threads are perfect, the o-rings seal well, the top cap is flawless, and the 5.5ml capacity is more than enough, not to mention the 6.5ml spare glass. The rounding of the drip tip is very comfortable. It protrudes a tiny bit from the top of the mod, but the largest glass is perfectly aligned with the sides of the mod, which is a positive, and finally, there’s a manufacturer who realized that the glass shouldn’t overhang the mod! But still, it’s worth being careful not to tip it over, although that’s not typical for the Spark 220. The PnP X coils have good flavor reproduction, are capable of huge clouds, and easily last the manufacturer’s promised 100ml of liquid lifespan, which, although user-dependent, should last at least a week with this tank!

To be honest! I didn’t use its stock tank! I didn’t install the coils either. However, since I have experience with PnP X coils from other tests, I have enough experience to say that what the manufacturer promised is true! Since these are mesh coils, they heat up quickly and cool down quickly. They don’t require too much Wattage, and when powered with the appropriate wattage and provided with adequate cooling, they can indeed last for 100ml of liquid, or even up to 2 weeks maximum! The tank’s design allows everything I just wrote to come true! The reason I didn’t use the tank is that since the local weather is currently fluctuating three times a day between monsoon season and Sahara-like heat, I fortunately caught a mild cold that also involves coughing, so I decided not to worsen my situation further. Therefore, I used the device with my trusted MTL tanks and in RBA mode. I apologize to everyone for this!

So, the main point so far is that the Uforce X tank is flawless in its assembly, we know the PnP X coils are good, and the Spark 220 mod is almost good, only the multifunctional rotary dial and the menu have a slight incompatibility, which is really very slight and perhaps can be gotten used to over time. Now let’s summarize what has been written above.

Pros :white_check_mark:

  • Aluminum alloy housing. If the goal is to use our devices for as long as possible, we should definitely buy a metal device, like the Spark 220. It doesn’t pick up scratches and resists minor everyday bumps for a very long time.
  • Interactive user interface. It’s always refreshing not to own a mod with a dull menu. Our test subject’s user interface is animated wherever possible, and the menu system is simply cool. To be honest, in today’s world, only such a menu system will be available on the market in the future.
  • DTL usage. Both the Spark 220 mod and the accompanying Uforce X tank are designed for DTL usage, which leans more towards the light DL category. This is good because DTL is a usage mode that doesn’t strain the mod and doesn’t overheat the tank.
  • Large capacity tank. The Uforce X tank’s stock 5.5ml capacity is quite something, but if that’s not enough, the replacement glass is 6.5ml, which, with the right coil, can be enough for an entire day.
  • PnP X coils. The Voopoo PnP X coils have very good flavor reproduction and can generate huge clouds of vapor. The icing on the cake is that they don’t get gunked up until 100ml of liquid has been vaped. Of course, this requires adequate cooling, but that is already provided by the Uforce X tank.
  • No Bypass and Eco. I was pleased to note that there is finally a manufacturer who doesn’t want to intentionally torture the batteries with the Bypass mode. I don’t think it’s necessary at all. I also didn’t miss the Eco mode, which is now appearing almost everywhere, as that can be achieved with a well-set Wattage value.
  • Perfect dimensions and weight. The Spark 220’s dimensions of 148 x 45 x 29mm and the Uforce X’s dimensions of 29 x 52.95mm are perfectly harmonized. Finally, a set where the tank glass doesn’t overhang the mod, saving us a heart attack. Its weight, considering it has two batteries, is very good, so the dimensions and weight together make it comfortable to hold.
  • +1: LED lighting. This adds a little extra, as everyone likes beauty. The flashing of the 84 LEDs can be very beautiful. Of course, we shouldn’t buy a device just for the LEDs, but for its usability, so I’d only mark it as a small bonus because I think it’s pretty.

Cons :negative_squared_cross_mark:

  • Rotary knob not in sync with the menu. As I usually write, nothing is 100% flawless, but this is almost a major flaw. The fact that the rotary dial’s selector is not properly aligned with the menu can cause unexpected surprises and some annoyance. Of course, if we don’t rush with the settings, the situation is manageable, but the point is that it could be a rotary knob that works in good sync with the menu, but it isn’t.
  • No exit option in menu items. This is also an error that we can easily overcome because we simply press the same setting that was originally set, but the lack of an exit option to the main menu is still missing, as this would make the menu system complete.
  • No cooling. I’ve left the biggest flaw of the Voopoo Spark 220 mod for last, which for me is still the lack of cooling! Although the device has overheat protection, as long as the batteries are in a completely enclosed space, they are at risk, and since safety is our top priority, the lack of cooling is the biggest mistake Voopoo can make. Everything else comes after this…

Overall, the Voopoo Vinci Spark 220 Kit is not too bad! It does what it needs to do during use! The GENE TT 2.0 Chip does its job very well, so it performed satisfactorily in terms of functionality. The Uforce X tank assembly is flawless; I had no minor issues with it. And the PnP X coils are almost legendary good. Of course, the device has flaws, because something perfect only exists in fairy tales, but at least there’s a solution for most of them. Although it’s true that in my opinion the minor incompatibility of the rotary knob and the missing exit option for menu items could have been resolved, but this wasn’t done, so I deducted points for this. However, despite this, since whoever sets up their device to their liking once will at most fiddle with the modes afterwards, or perhaps not even there… So, in this regard, perhaps I’m exaggerating again. The main thing is, its usability is very good, so whoever can live with the aforementioned flaws should buy it with peace of mind!

Thank you for reading! Have a nice day! :hugs:

Thank you @Vaperina_Kinga for another great and detailed description … Obviously, one needs to cater to the needs of the younger age group, and Voopoo is willing to do so.

When I first saw its little brother.. like every flashy, colorful, bling-bling thing, it caught your interest.. ,but fortunately, I managed to shake off that thought… I think I was better off this way
