I’ve been curious about Voopoo’s new product, the E120 PODMod Kit, ever since I first saw it, and it came to me from HealthCabin. As its name suggests, it can deliver a maximum of 120 Watts and is compatible with PnP X atomizers. It features the GENE TT 2.0 Chip, thanks to which we always get intense flavors until the battery is completely depleted. It automatically detects the resistance, so it’s in Smart mode by default, which sets the Wattage according to the resistance. While there is an upper limit, which the manufacturer calls maximum power protection, there is no lower limit. Speaking of protection, it also includes short-circuit protection, overcharge protection, output overcurrent protection, overheat protection, and low battery protection, which I believe are standard for all devices. Additionally, each puff can last a maximum of 8 seconds. The built-in 4500mAh battery is already huge, but it can last up to 10 days if we choose the 1 Ohm atomizer for the device and produce a maximum of 250 puffs per day. With the 0.3 Ohm atomizer, it can last up to 5 days, calibrated for 250 puffs, which I managed to achieve, even a bit more. Beyond that, no matter how much you puff, it will last at least 2 days. Its dimensions are 23.6 x 46.6 x 115mm including the POD, which is not only large when read but the device is indeed quite large.
The E120, with its aluminum alloy housing, comes in 7 colors: purple, metallic gray, rose red, silver, black, blue, and champagne gold. I received the purple one, which I think has a slightly lighter shade compared to the picture above. Nothing else remains but to move forward!
Voopoo Vinci E120 PODMod Kit Review
Box Contents and Getting to Know the Device
Not much comes with the E120, just a USB cable, a 0.15 Ohm atomizer in addition to the 0.3 Ohm one already in the POD, the user manual, and a small leaflet about PnP X atomizers.
The majority of the front panel is occupied by the huge 2.44" TFT display, with the fire button located above it. There isn’t much of interest on the back, just the Voopoo logo.
The sides are more interesting. Almost everything is placed on the right side, but what’s most interesting here is that the two small holes visible at the top cannot be closed; they provide airflow for the MTL POD heads. Below them, we find the navigation buttons, and further down, a slider button that locks the navigation buttons and the fire button. At the very bottom is the USB-C connection, through which we can charge the not-at-all-small 4500mAh battery at 5V/2A. The charging time is not long for this capacity, only 1.5 hours. On the left side, the adjustable airflow inlet is located, which is necessary for the DTL POD head. Below it, the Voopoo Vinci inscription is faintly visible.
The Vinci PnP X Cartridge POD head included from the factory is a DTL head, as indicated on it. This is because an MTL POD head can also be purchased for the device, so we won’t mix them up. Although I don’t think they could be mixed up anyway, as the mouthpiece inside the MTL POD head is narrower. Not only the display and the battery are gigantic, but the POD head has a 5ml capacity, which is quite impressive overall. The filling port on the side is not very large compared to the size of the POD head, and if it’s in the device, you can’t fill it with a Chubby Gorilla bottle. However, with a narrower bottle, filling is quite quick. At the bottom of the POD head are two air inlets and 4 magnets that hold it firmly in place. Changing the atomizer is also quick and easy, as you just need to get under the edges of the atomizer with your fingernail and you can pull it out.
We do get a small, basic menu with the device, which can be accessed by pressing the navigation buttons simultaneously. With this device, you don’t have to hold the buttons for 3 seconds, as is usually the case. The first menu item is Clock Theme, where we first see 2 watch faces; the rest are unlocked when we reach the indicated puff count. The second menu item is Time Calibration, where we can set the exact time, as the E120’s clock shows midnight upon first power-on. The third menu item is Screen Lock, where we can set how long the clock, which also serves as a screen saver, is displayed. The default is 1 minute, but we can set it up to a maximum of 30 minutes. Finally, we get an Exit option if we don’t wish to make any adjustments and just wanted to check if the menu items are still there. Otherwise, there’s nothing else in the device, meaning there’s no Bypass, no TC, or any other fancy modes; you can only adjust the Wattage. However, as I mentioned, there is an upper limit, which is 40 Watts for the 0.3 Ohm coil; it won’t go higher than that. You can go lower as much as you want, as there is no lower limit.
I think it’s worth mentioning that a large display is good because the data isn’t crammed together, leaving room for some aesthetics. Of course, the latter is subjective, but I like that the display isn’t bare by default. However, the clock appears as a screen saver too quickly. They could have extended that 3 seconds to, say, 10 seconds, so we wouldn’t have to press the fire button if we wanted to check the battery level, for example. 30 Watts at such low resistance in standby mode does heat up the atomizer, so they could have increased that 3 seconds. Of course, this isn’t a problem either, as we can check it after a puff, but I have to nitpick; that’s the life of testers…
So far, it’s quite neat, isn’t it? But is its actual performance as outstanding as its specifications? We’ll find out soon.
Review
The aluminum alloy body holds up quite well to wear and tear. It has come into contact with zippers, keys, and so far, not a single scratch has appeared, neither on the body nor on the display. The airflow slider is quite stable, it doesn’t move on its own. The slider button moves easily, but not too easily. However, the navigation buttons are quite easy to press, so it’s worth using the slider lock if the device needs to be carried around in a bag, for example. On the other hand, when carried in a trouser pocket, it doesn’t get pressed by itself, but when taking it out, I accidentally managed to adjust the Wattage because the navigation buttons are quite high up and that’s exactly where I found myself gripping it when taking it out. I think the fire button is a bit small, perhaps only because of its rim, but it’s manageable. The display is not too bright, which I was very happy about, as it doesn’t strain the eyes. The same applies to all the watch faces I’ve unlocked so far. The device’s menu, the back cover, and the screen saver are all made up of dark colors, so none of them are bothersome at all. The wallpaper shown in the picture above, depicting Mount Everest, is fixed; it cannot be changed, only the screen saver displaying the time can be replaced. When the pocket lock is activated, it locks the fire button and the navigation buttons, so we cannot adjust the Wattage in the locked state. However, it still allows access to the menu if you press both navigation buttons simultaneously. The menu is incredibly simple to use; I don’t think it requires any special explanation, as you’ve seen the menu items above. Perhaps the only interesting thing about it is that after setting the time, you have to press and hold the fire button to save the time. The watch does not run slow or fast, nor does it do anything like that when the device is turned off, so we can rely on it completely, at least until we stop staring at our phones… Speaking of being turned off, if we completely drain the device, it turns itself off and cannot be turned back on until it’s plugged in to charge. The magnets on the pod head hold perfectly during use, although it wobbles a bit when moved by hand, but this can be attributed to its large size, as smaller things always fit better in place. The maximum battery life I could get out of the device was 5 days and a little bit. On the morning of the 6th day, it only had 10% left with about 240-250 puffs per day. If I used it more, and although I tried to use it as much as possible, I got roughly a little more than double that, which means 500-550 puffs per day, and even then, the battery lasted well for 2-2.5 days. I think this is definitely outstanding. The device itself, although quite large, I can’t say it’s heavy. For its size, it’s perfectly weighted, which makes me a little envious… It charges the battery from 0 to 100% in about 1.5 hours, which is 90 minutes, but it displays that it will charge in 99 minutes while charging, though it reduces this time a bit as it goes. It is recommended to charge it with the original cable, as it is not compatible with all phone cables. With a Motorola cable, the charging indicator screen flashed every half minute, meaning the contact was not good with that cable. However, with a Samsung cable, it works flawlessly, so it matters what kind of cable you use with it. Everyone will have to experience this for themselves, but if there’s any problem with your own cable, the E120’s cable is in the box, and there will be no issues with that.
It’s a bit difficult to access the charging port of the pod head at first if it’s in the device, but you get used to it later. However, if you charge the head in the pod, you can only fill it from a narrow bottle. The 5ml capacity is quite substantial; with the 0.3 Ohm atomizer, it’s roughly equivalent to 250 puffs per day, or even a bit more, so don’t leave home without liquid if you’re using the 0.3 Ohm one, because 250 puffs isn’t that much. The flavor is perfect, and there are no complaints about the vapor either. The PnP X atomizers are outstanding in this regard. It doesn’t get hot even with restricted airflow and chain-vaping. But I would like to note here that the right-side MTL airflow is not closable, so it receives cooling from both sides. The device is completely dry under the pod head, which also indicates good cooling. The atomizer lasted me a good 2 weeks without using particularly non-sweet liquids, which is also outstanding. The mouthpiece of the pod head is quite comfortable, making its use quite comfortable.
Pros
- Aluminum alloy body. Thanks to the material of the body, it doesn’t scratch, and as we know, a metal-bodied product is always better.
- Easy, comfortable use and Smart mode. The menu is easy to use, everything is clear. The pod head mouthpiece is comfortable. In addition to these, the default Smart mode adjusts the Wattage for us; it has an upper limit, but we can adjust it downwards without limits.
- Fast charging. The 4500mAh battery charges in what can be called record time, which is 1.5 hours. Of course, you can use the device while charging, but then the charging time will be slightly extended.
- Lightweight. Despite its robust size, it can be considered quite light, which is quite positive, as it’s comfortable to carry in a trouser pocket.
- Flavorful atomizers with huge clouds. The PnP X atomizers have long been known for their excellent flavor reproduction and massive vapor production, which are naturally not lacking in the E120 case either.
- GENE TT 2.0 Chip. Voopoo’s chipset excels once again. The flavor intensity, the speed of vaporization, and the extremely low ramp-up time are all features that we will appreciate.
- No lower limit for maximum output voltage. This has become my favorite feature in the E120 because it often happens that I need to lower the Wattage further, for example, because I like cool vapor, but there’s nowhere to lower it further because the Smart mode restricts me. Fortunately, this device has no lower limit, only an upper one, so you can always customize your vaping experience to your needs. And with that, it’s time for me to award the User-Friendly Special Award again after a long time, which this feature has won!
- Large display, pleasant colors for the eyes. The advantage of the large display is that there is plenty of space for everything, and the fact that they used colors that are not bothersome to the eyes is a huge plus.
- 4500mAh battery. The massive battery provides us with 2-10 days of battery life, which can vary depending on our usage habits, but I believe the minimum 2-day battery life will be met by everyone. With the 0.3 Ohm atomizer, 5 days of battery life with 250 puffs per day is guaranteed!
Cons
- Hard-to-access charging port. If the pod head’s charging port weren’t slightly difficult to access, this device would be perfect. But unfortunately, or perhaps not so unfortunately, you can only fill the head from a narrow bottle when it’s in the device.
In conclusion, I believe that the E120 not only has impressive specifications but also its usability and user-friendliness make it so lovable. Although it might be a bit too simple and only has the Power mode besides other features, what it does, it does very well! Thanks to the 4500mAh battery, it can do it for a long time! If you’re looking for a cool PODMod that shows the time and offers great flavor and vapor, then don’t think too much further, because here is the Voopoo Vinci E120, which could be the perfect choice!
