Hi everyone ![]()
The site has been expanded with a very useful new feature: from now on, you can call each other directly through Vaperina!
You’ve surely experienced times when it would have been much simpler to show a new coil build, a mod setup, or just quickly discuss something via voice or video than typing long messages. From now on, you won’t need to exchange phone numbers or switch to third-party applications (Discord, Messenger, etc.), because we’ve integrated the solution into Vaperina! ![]()
A new Call button has appeared in the header, as well as on profiles and user cards. Just click it, the system rings on the other end, and if they answer, the conversation can start – with voice or even video, from both desktop and mobile.
Where to find it?
On desktop in the header
You can bring up the Vaperina Call panel with the button in the header.

On mobile in the bottom navigation bar
You can bring up the Vaperina Call panel with the button in the navigation bar.
Private chat
With the button in the chat, you can immediately call the user you are chatting with.

Profile card and page
With the button on the profile and card, you can immediately call the user.
User Interface
We’ve tried to make the user interface clearly user-friendly.
Data protection and security: what is said stays between you
The most important thing you need to know about the system: this feature is 100% private and does not collect data.
No call recording.
We do not save or store any audio or video.
We do not keep a log of who called whom and when.
What happens in the background?
The call works using so-called Peer-to-Peer [P2P] (WebRTC) technology. This means that Vaperina only helps with the “ringing” of the call, but once the connection is established, our servers completely exit the process.
Audio and video data flows directly between the two devices (your phone/computer and the called party’s device).
- Why is this good? It’s lightning-fast, with no extra latency due to our server, and it’s physically impossible for anyone else to access the stream.
- Good to know: A built-in technology (STUN) helps the two devices find each other on the internet, which is completely automatic. Very rarely, it might happen (e.g., with strict corporate firewalls, special mobile networks) that the network blocks the direct connection.
- To handle this, we plan to set up a TURN server later, which will serve as a sort of “security bridge”: if a direct connection cannot be established, this server will help transmit the signal, so in the future, you will be able to call each other seamlessly from virtually any network.
Who can call whom? (Spam protection)
As with other contact options, calling is available from trust level 1.
To prevent unwanted calls and harassment, we’ve built in an important filter:
Only users who mutually follow each other can call each other.
This way, you can be sure that no one will call you randomly; you will only receive calls from people you are already connected with within the community.
Let’s test it! (Beta)
Since the feature is brand new, we are still at the beginning of our journey. Minor glitches may still occur on different browsers, phones, and networks.
Please try it out, feel free to call each other, and share your experiences in this topic!
- What do you think of the feature itself?
- How was the audio and video quality?
- Did you encounter any errors during ringing or the call?
We are very grateful for all feedback, as it helps us refine it further. I wish you pleasant conversations! ![]()
