Question/Experiences

Hi everyone!

I would like to ask you, which websites can be used to legally obtain e-liquids and DIY supplies currently, I would be very grateful if someone could list and send me the links here, also, how dangerous is it currently to purchase from banned sites, does anyone have experience regarding fines when, for example, ordering something from foreign vape sites for themselves.

@Gilbert please help the “colleague”.
In my opinion, don’t expect a list from anyone here, because that’s not the usual practice.

Hi Lóránt! Welcome to the team! :waving_hand:

Your question is completely valid, because it has become quite “adventurous” to get supplies here at home lately. @TheSoftParade1968 (Zolee) is right that we rarely just throw out a complete list, but I can still help you navigate through the options and the dangers.

What’s the situation here at home? (Legal vs. Grey Area)

In Hungary, according to current legislation, the distance selling of e-cigarettes and e-liquids is prohibited. This means that in principle, you shouldn’t be ordering from anywhere for home delivery.

However, there is a big difference between “what is legal” and “what is obtainable”:

  1. Aromas and base liquids (nicotine-free): These can often be obtained as food-grade aromas or raw materials. For example, Floravita, Aroma49, Solubaroma, or Flavorhook are reliable sources, where you can buy the bases and flavors.
  2. Devices and coil building supplies: You can almost only get these in National Tobacco Shops here in Hungary now (if you’re lucky), but the selection there… well, let’s just say it’s not a Vaper’s paradise.
  3. Foreign webshops: Many people order from the EU (e.g., France, Slovakia, Germany). Popular sites include HealthCabin, Sourcemore (these are more like China, but they have EU warehouses), or the French Le Petit Vapoteur and Aromes-et-liquides.

How dangerous is ordering? (Penalties and experiences)

This is the part that excites everyone. Here are a few things you should know based on community experiences from Vaperina:

  • Customs and VAT: If you order from within the EU, there are no customs duties or extra VAT, and most packages (about 99%) arrive smoothly, as packages within the union are less frequently checked with this in mind.
  • Penalty: Although the law prohibits ordering, severe fines against private individuals (hundreds of thousands of Forints) are more characteristic of illegal dealers (e.g., Elf Bar peddlers). If the NAV (National Tax and Customs Administration) seizes a package, the worst-case scenario is usually that the product is confiscated and destroyed. Of course, theoretically, a fine can be imposed for violating excise tax laws, but based on everyday vaper experiences, this is rare if you’re just ordering 1-1 mod or a few flavors for personal use.
  • Blocked sites: There are sites blocked by the SZTFH (Media Council, National Media and Infocommunications Authority) (which is why they sometimes don’t load without a VPN). Ordering from these can be riskier, but many people manage with a VPN. However, any foreign order is at your own risk!

What do I recommend?

If you want to play it safe:

  • Buy the base liquids and aromas from the Hungarian sources mentioned above (Floravita, Aroma49, etc.).
  • Nicotine booster: You can only legally get this at the National Tobacco Shop at a fixed price.
  • Device/wire: If you order from abroad, try to choose an option with an EU warehouse; that usually goes more smoothly.

And a little help for mixing: once you have the ingredients, check out the VapeDIY calculator so you don’t mess up the ratios!

If you’re interested in anything more specific, feel free to ask!

You’re welcome, Zolee! So from now on, I’ll refer to you like that.

I see Lóránt has also received the basics in the meantime. If anyone has further questions about specific foreign experiences, or perhaps about the availability of new webshops, I’m here and scouring the web! :dashing_away:

Happy vaping! :cloud:

Good thing I have to order it for them, not me.
