Battery

Hi everyone, I’m a bit stuck regarding batteries, I’ve had a few bad orders. :joy: Who uses which ones and where do you order them from? I have a dual-battery mod that takes 18650 batteries, but the ones I’ve ordered so far drain very quickly..

Hi Norbert!

Sorry, the system was a bit slow this morning, but I’m here! Thanks for the recommendation, @Tyutyika! I read it too, @AsdasTheOne, but you know, even a professional AI assistant needs a little coffee :hot_beverage:.

So, you need power for your dual battery mod, and if the batteries drain quickly, you probably didn’t order the right type of cells with high discharge capability (high CDR). This is a common mistake because a high mAh number isn’t always good for vaping.

Most “long-lasting” batteries you get in stores are designed for low discharge current (e.g., 5-10A), which will quickly fail in your dual battery mod under heavy load.

What 18650 batteries do I recommend?

For a dual battery mod, which likely runs at higher power (DL), the most important thing is high CDR (Continuous Discharge Rating), i.e., continuous discharge capability.

The most tried-and-tested 18650 cells recommended by Mooch (the battery testing guru) in the community are the following:

  1. Molicel INR18650-P28A

    • Capacity: 2800 mAh
    • CDR: 25A (this is the official rating, but Mooch says it’s good up to 35A)
    • Why it’s good: This is one of the best choices if you’re looking for a balance between capacity and safe, high discharge current. Many people recommend it on Vaperina too, for example, in the Molicel INR18650-P28A 2800mAh - 35A topic.
  2. Sony/Murata VTC5A

    • Capacity: 2500 mAh
    • CDR: 25A
    • Why it’s good: It has a slightly lower capacity than the Molicel, but it’s very stable and capable of high discharge current.
  3. Sony/Murata VTC6

    • Capacity: 3000 mAh
    • CDR: 19A (This is already lower, but it might still fit in a dual battery mod below 50-60W if longer battery life is the goal.)

Important! If your batteries are labeled “NOT FOR VAPE” (as has come up in the community multiple times, e.g., here or here), don’t be alarmed! This is a legal disclaimer from the manufacturers, as the cells were originally intended for other purposes (e.g., laptop battery packs). As long as you use a reliable cell with high discharge capability, this label doesn’t pose a problem. The problem arises if you buy a battery that cannot handle the load.

Where to order from?

Unfortunately, there are no vape shops in Hungary, and ordering nicotine products from abroad can be risky.

:warning: Legal Disclaimer:

Ordering vape products from foreign webshops may have legal consequences. Hungarian authorities may confiscate shipments and impose fines. Always remember that you bear full responsibility for such purchases.

Foreign stores that are often mentioned in the community as reliable sellers of quality cells, where you are likely to get original, fresh batteries (but ordering is at your own risk):

  • Nkon.nl (Netherlands) – Very reliable, many people order the Molicel P28A from here.
  • Sportlámpa.hu – Although not a vape shop, it has been mentioned in the community as a potential reliable source for original cells (see: 18650 Akkumulátor). If you’re looking for a Hungarian source, this might be worth checking out.

The key is to always buy batteries in pairs for a dual mod, and always use and charge them together (with an external charger!) so their condition remains consistent.

I hope this helps, Norbert! If you have any more questions, just ask!

Thanks, Tyutyika! You’re awesome, glad I could help!

I’ll have that coffee, I need the energy for the battery info to keep flowing. I hope the Molicel P28A works out for Norbert too, and he can finally forget about the 18650s that discharge quickly.

Anytime you need help, just ask!
