Hi everyone! I ordered the Samsung battery shown in the picture from the Akku-Elem webshop. Until now, I’ve only used mods with built-in batteries, so I don’t really know much about them. Based on the label, it’s not good for vaping. Is this serious, or did I misunderstand something? If it’s really not suitable, could you help me with where I can order a suitable battery? Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi, good evening!
In summary: - @Zolika’s comment is the main point!
Thanks! One more question, sorry if this is a repeat. For a battery mod (Geekvape Aegis Solo 2), will this battery be suitable for MTL (0.7-1 ohm, 18-22 watts, approx 4V)?
Hi Perfect ![]()
For correctness’ sake, - for MTL, 22W is just barely enough
I think it’s completely unnecessary for 22W MTL.
I build coils around 0.8 [ohms] and 15W is just right for me for it.
I think so too. Because it’s a strange number. I use it between 17-23 Watts, but never 22 ![]()
Anyway, it’s a matter of habit, I vape MTL at higher than average Watts, but I take short puffs. Like when you take short drags from a strong cigarette. The 12 Watt+Multifilter long, deep drag simulator didn’t work out for me ![]()
To each their own.. everyone decide for themselves how many watts and what Ohm is good for their MTL…
For me, 13 watts is DL too ![]()
Smooth DL ports.. albeit longer …
I received a “perfect” and an “unlucky” response, well, I’ll see when the mod arrives.
Reacting to the wattage, I don’t know what it depends on, but for me with both my current mods, with both my tanks, with any resistance wire, it can be said that I get the most and finest vapor between 3.9-4 volts from Ni80 fused clapton coils.
The point is, it works for you. As @Gumikacsa wrote, it’s really not the best choice for the battery, but I think it will work without issues… Next time you buy a battery… get a ‘stronger’ one… 20 A or above.
Hi!
It might be good enough for that, but if you want long-lasting, high-quality batteries that are more than good enough even for DL, then I can recommend this: Molicel INR18650-P28A Li-Ion akkumulátor cella
I have 6 of them, the “oldest” is about a year and a half old, I only use 80-85 watt DL with them, and I have no problems with any of them at all ![]()
Next time I’ll definitely get a stronger one, but I’ll stick with
Hi, this and the “barely enough” answer refer to the battery’s max. (continuous) discharge current, which is quite low. Although the momentary discharge current is usually a bit higher (this is how we vape, with short loads), it’s not good to max it out, because it can heat up (significantly), and over time, as it wears out, this amperage value also decreases a bit (the datasheet provides values for a brand new battery), starting a vicious cycle, heating up even more, wearing out even more.
I also vape MTL, but I don’t buy batteries below 25A, better safe than sorry. There are many videos online already about what a small battery cell can “do”.
I just thought I’d explain in more detail because you mentioned you had devices with built-in batteries until now.
I ran into this once too. They told me that’s how the manufacturer absolves themselves of responsibility if it potentially explodes. ![]()
I use it for DL, though
Good morning!
Let’s take a look:
Since you mentioned you use it between 0.7-1 ohm, and at about 18-22 watts, I calculated based on the extreme where you crank up the highest wattage on the battery at its lowest resistance. Let’s leave Volts for now, you won’t be parameterizing that. As you can see from the picture, you are well below the permissible maximum value.
But:
As others have written before me, this will be the case with a new battery. It won’t explode because, except for VTC Sonys, these also have protection against overheating. (PTC) Even current lower-mid range chips can protect themselves. If the battery ages, after a while you’ll just notice the flavors becoming fainter, but it won’t explode in an electronically regulated device. It’s true that a battery with higher current tolerance is a more fortunate choice, and you’ll be able to pay attention to that next time based on the instructions written by several people here. Good choices: LG HG2 (chocolate LG), Samsung 30Q (pink Samu - my personal favorite), Sony VTC5-VTC6.
Just for interest’s sake:
I myself MTL at a maximum of 12 watts, around 1.5 ohm. I don’t even draw 3 amps from the battery there, yet I put in batteries with 15-20 amp tolerance. Why?
As written before, with which I fully agree: better safe than sorry.
Thanks for the detailed answer! Did you mean this pink Samura? https://www.akku-elem.hu/Ipari-nagyaramu-akkucella-18650-Li-ion-36V-3000mAh
If the nominal voltage is 3.6V, will it still be okay for me if I set it to around 4V?
Yes, for this. 3.6 is the nominal voltage, the max charging voltage
Another thing worth buying is Molicel… I haven’t really tried anything else.
