I hope I donât offend anyone by pasting this comment here.
âIt has been almost 14 years since vaping kept me off smoking, even though I never managed long-term quitting even with the smallest nicotine replacement available in pharmacies. We all know, vapers, that numerous studies prove the effectiveness of vaping as an undeniable cessation method, but also as a harm reduction tool. It is inconceivable to me that a government concerned about the health of its citizens, regardless of political conviction, would rank vaping at the same level as smoking. It is not nicotine that kills in a cigarette, but combustion. I have had the pleasure of helping smokers try vaping and later seeing them manage to get rid of this poison. So, I will continue my fight. Tobacco lobbies are only organizing a well-concealed and calculated genocide to drive vapers back to cigarettes, and above all, to prevent smokers from trying this fabulous way to quit without suffering⊠It is unacceptable, incomprehensible, and criminal.â
Thanks for bringing it up, thatâs a completely valid observation!
The number of registered members we have doesnât mean that many are active at the same time. A community always operates in a ârotatingâ fashion.
Some people are here daily, others check in weekly or monthly, and many only follow the more important posts via email.
Therefore, the numbers by themselves donât always show the true reach.
The point is that the message is out there, available to everyone, and over time it will reach many more people, even if this isnât immediately visible in the feedback.
This is a completely average number for online communities. The fact that someone is not active does not mean they are not paying attention, or that they are not participating, for example, in signing a petition.
Silent members make up the âsilent majorityâ: many only find out about important matters via email and donât necessarily come online just to indicate in a comment that they have signed.
We are working to mobilize as many people as possible, but for this, we will probably need our own mailing server.
The current provider is not really economical for sending this many emails. A few days ago we tried to switch to Amazon SES, but we did not receive approval because of vaping, which is a significant blow, because this way we could have delivered the emails at about one-tenth the cost compared to the current system.
This will probably be implemented in-house, on our own server in the future, so the provider will not have a say, we will have greater control in this area too, and we can set the course of the correspondence ourselves.
Does any of you know how many signatures are needed for this to be worthwhile?
I am a bit more optimistic; the French are quite active, the number of votes has already exceeded one hundred thousand.
Even if there arenât that many of us actively dealing with this issue here, we can do what we can within our sphere of influence, which is to involve our immediate family, friends with whom we share it, etc.
Itâs very relative; in some cases 25,000 amounts to nothing in the end, while in others they react even to 2,000 verified signatures. It depends on the issue, the government, everything⊠in extreme cases, they wonât even recognize it as a âdocumentâ.
Currently, just like in Slovakia, the governmentâs treasury is being looted under the name of solidarity. They donât want to do anything other than continue exploiting what they can get. Because self-interest comes first, and everything else comes after. You see, whoever doesnât work must be supported by something. Whoever is cold must be warmed up.
The French debt amounted to 113.9% of GDP in the first quarter of 2025. Willkommen und pro-Krieg.
