Vaporesso Armour Ultra Kit Review

Here comes the last test subject from Sourcemore for the year 2025, which is none other than the Vaporesso Armour Ultra Kit! This gadget, equipped with the Axon chip and designed for DL use, is powered by a built-in 5500mAh battery, which according to the manufacturer can provide up to 3 days of operation! We can go up to a maximum of 100 Watts with it, which is sometimes even too much for the GTI dual mesh atomizers. Moreover, if the Armour S mod proved too large, then the Armour Ultra might be a better choice, because it has become 25% smaller in both size and weight, i.e., 144.5 x 37.6 x 31mm and 173g.

The Armour Ultra Kit, released with a metal housing and rubberized sides, comes with the iTank T and is available in 7 colors: Obsidian Black, Storm Blue, Titanium Silver, Emerald Green, Light Pink, Dune Gold, and Camo Silver. I received the Titanium Silver. Let’s take a look, because I think it looks promising!

Vaporesso Armour Ultra Kit Review

Box Contents and Getting Acquainted with the Set

Vaporesso didn’t go overboard with accessories either. The box only contains a USB cable, a 2ml spare glass with a glass protector rubber into which the spare O-rings were stuffed, a 0.4 Ohm GTI dual mesh coil, the indispensable user manual, and a Warranty Card. Oh, and of course, the iTank T also has a 0.2 Ohm coil inside.

On the front of the mod, below the large orange fire button, is the 0.96" color TFT display, and below that are the navigation buttons. Since the whole thing is black, the buttons are barely visible in the picture, as is the Type-C charging port below them, which is protected from water ingress by a rubber plug. Not to mention, it can charge at 5V/3A with a Type-C cable (which might be the same one we use for our phones), while it charges at 9V/2A with a DC type charger, though the latter will probably be a rather rare case.

The sides are, so to speak, empty. On the right side, you can only see the IP69K inscription, matching the size of the slider switch on the left, so it fits. The aforementioned left-side slider switch is the device lock, which I can’t fault; it works very well, slides easily, responds instantly, and its functionality is flawless.

The 510 connector is reinforced with four screws as usual, so it doesn’t get ripped out of place from a fall. On the bottom, there are only the mandatory pictograms, but since they were clever enough to print black letters and figures on black, they are not visible at all in the photo. If you buy one and hold it in your hand, you still have to look for them, but they are there.

Since it’s a kit, it naturally comes with a tank, which is none other than the much-mentioned iTank T, containing a 0.2 Ohm GTI dual mesh coil. I think this tank is a pretty formidable DL tank. A 0.5 Ohm coil is also available, which provides a more RDL feel, but due to its airflow, it’s a true DL. By the way, if you are interested in other GTI coils, you can get them here.

What I particularly like and is not as time-consuming as digging out the coil removal tool, is that you can hook the edge of the deck’s base under the edge of the coil’s pin, and by pulling the deck base back, the coil is out! I think this is brilliant! A fast, simple, practical solution!

The menu system is extremely simple and easy to use, making it perfectly user-friendly. Fortunately, it’s so (relatively) minimalist that it only includes the most important things, which are functional and allow you to customize the mod. I think it’s brilliant! You can access the menu with 3 quick presses of the fire button. There are 5 menu items: Mode, Settings, Smart, Watt Lock, and Themes. Of course, we also get an Exit option so you definitely can’t accidentally mess with the mod if the setting isn’t current.

First Menu Item - Mode.
We have 6 modes: Boost, Pulse, Eco, TC-SS, TC-NI, and TC-TI.
Boost is the one that best matches the iTank T, as it provides a stronger kick, just like preheating does, making it perfect for lower resistance GTI coils and promising even more vapor.
Pulse is more general in the sense that it doesn’t discriminate between tanks. However, the best thing about the Armour Ultra is precisely the Pulse mode, as it delivers a small burst of power every 0.2 seconds, or pulsating force, which is good for the flavors.
In contrast, Eco can be considered a bit sluggish if you want to use it with the iTank T, as it focuses on conserving battery power as much as possible, thus protecting it, which is why it falls a bit short in both flavor and vapor. But overall, this mode isn’t bad either (it just sympathizes more with MTL tanks).
The menu separately handles the 3 main TC modes: SS, NI, and TI, i.e., Stainless Steel, Nickel, and Titanium. This is good because it takes much less time to set up TC, and you don’t have to unintentionally and unnecessarily burn the coil. You only need to adjust the temperature and Wattage, which are factory set at 450 Fahrenheit and 75 Watts.

Second Menu Item - Settings.
Inside this, you’ll find Puffs, Bright, TCR Lock, and Default.
With Puffs, you can clearly check and delete the puff counts. The interesting thing about this is that you see 5 rows, each initially with 3 zeros, which means it breaks down the puff count by days, specifically 5 days, making it easy to track exactly how much you’ve consumed. You can see and delete all puff counts on the home screen.
Bright is the brightness, which is set to 100 by default.
With TCR Lock, you can lock the resistance in TC mode.
Default is essentially a factory reset, or as the word “default” suggests, the default setting.

Third Menu Item - Smart.
This automatically sets the Wattage for you when you first screw on a tank. It only works with different resistances, meaning when you change tanks. Otherwise, the Smart mode works this way in all mods. With the Armour Ultra, I didn’t notice a pre-set Wattage range corresponding to the resistance that allows adjustment, which I think is a good point. You can only turn this setting on or off.

Fourth Menu Item - Watt Lock.
This simply prevents Wattage adjustment. If it’s turned on, you cannot adjust the power on the mod; you can only use it at the power level it was at when you enabled Watt Lock. I think this is very good because it prevents accidental changes. You can also only turn this on or off.

Fifth Menu Item - Themes.
Here you can select the mod’s theme from 3 pre-set themes: Armour, Wave, and Loop. Wave is set by default.

I found the usability and menu of the Armour Ultra to be very user-friendly and simple. But let’s take a closer look, elaborating further.

User Experience Report

Every segment of the Armour Ultra is so professionally put together that there’s simply nothing to fault! The assembly and material usage are excellent! The buttons don’t rattle and are easy to press. The slider button for the device lock is smooth and responds quickly. The rubber plug for the USB connector seals and insulates perfectly. The display is large enough, showing all important data clearly, although the puff count and resistance could be a bit bigger, but it’s good as it is. The ribs or stripes around the 510 connector slightly lift the tank from the surface, preventing us from scratching the top of the mod. The rubberized coating is on the sides and bottom. I don’t know much about rubber, but sometimes it’s too soft or something, which is why it picks up lint and everything sticks to it. Well, the rubberized coating of the Armour Ultra isn’t like that. To the touch, it’s almost like plastic, but you can feel it’s not, and it’s soft at the same time. The point is, it doesn’t collect any lint or dirt. Speaking of external features, I must add that it has received an IP68 rating, meaning it’s dust and water-resistant. It also received an IP69K rating, which is written on the right side of the mod. This makes it resistant to dust and high-pressure hot water jets. If that weren’t enough, it also received the MIL-STD-810H military rating, which, in addition to the above, makes it resistant to shocks and vibrations. Moreover, it is guaranteed to be completely drop-resistant from 1.2 meters and can handle being submerged in 1-meter deep water for 30 minutes very well. This mod is a real beast!

Its menu system is very neat and user-friendly, as I’ve already mentioned. It only contains the most necessary things. It’s simple to operate, and everything is clear. As usual, you can access the menu with 3 quick presses of the fire button. However, if you accidentally press the fire button 4 times, the device locks, activating the device lock function. This isn’t a bad solution because anything can happen with the button. In practice, this looks like this: if you accidentally lock the mod and the slider button is in the Unlock position, you first need to move the button to the Lock position, at which point it won’t display anything because it’s already locked, then slide it back to the Unlock position, and it will immediately display “Unlocked.” Or you unlock it the same way with the fire button. So, this is not a flaw at all, as the two mechanisms are clearly synchronized. Big thumbs up to Vaporesso for that! The modes work perfectly, and the ramp-up time in Pulse and Boost mode is very close to zero! Speaking of modes, there’s a little interesting point here. In TC mode, it’s set to 75 Watts by default, which is excessively high, but fortunately, by pressing the fire button and the right-side navigation button simultaneously, the value starts flashing, and you can adjust it. Furthermore, the manufacturer promises a 25% performance improvement in Pulse mode. Honestly, I don’t really have anything to compare it to, as I don’t own a Vaporesso mod, only a battered Dani Mini that I use daily, so I can’t say if there’s an improvement compared to its predecessor. I can only say that it heats up more vibrantly in Pulse mode than the Dani Power!

The kit includes the iTank T with the Armour Ultra, which comes with a 6ml glass tube by default, but there’s also a 2ml spare in the box with a glass protector. The TPD version comes with a 2ml tube and also includes one as a spare. The GTI dual mesh coils have a 30% increased lifespan according to the manufacturer. As I mentioned above, the iTank T is a true DL tank, and the dual mesh only enhances the experience! There are no flaws in the tank’s assembly or material usage! I won’t hide the fact that I haven’t used the tank myself because it’s DL, not MTL

I really liked the Armour Ultra Kit! Moreover, I couldn’t find any faults with it! I don’t think that’s ever happened before! There won’t be a con list at all, but I’ve brought a few positive features that can fill a pro list. Let’s summarize:

Pros :white_check_mark:

  • All-weather resistant. It has everything you could ask for! IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H! These collectively make the device resistant to dust, water, hot water jets, vibrations, shocks, and drops, and it can even withstand being underwater for 30 minutes! These are the characteristics of a true workhorse mod!
  • Simple operation and user-friendly menu system. All settings are easily found and perfectly clear, which is why we can call it 100% user-friendly!
  • Pulse mode. Although all modes work flawlessly and excellently, I still have a favorite that will be everyone’s favorite. That’s Pulse mode. It can bring out intense and extraordinary flavors with its 0.2-second pulsations!
  • Excellent material usage. This contributes the most! Both the device and the tank are so well-made that no one will have any issues with the set for a moment!
  • iTank T and GTI coils. The iTank T is an excellent and well-assembled DL tank, made great by the GTI dual mesh coils! According to the manufacturer’s promise, there will be no shortage of vapor, and especially flavor! Plus, their lifespan has already increased by 30%!
  • Fast firing, short ramp-up time. Every experience arrives instantly! Since the ramp-up time is almost zero and the firing is intense and fast, it’s quite flavorful, and the experience will immediately draw you in!
  • Full device lock with fire button and slider switch. I really like that the device lock slider switch (or slider, whichever you prefer) works in sync with a fire button-based device lock. They are perfectly synchronized! You lock with one and unlock with the other, and the two types of mechanisms don’t get tangled. Brilliant!
  • Missing coil removal tool. Although I list it as missing because we’re used to having one in the box with DL tanks that have coils, what they’ve replaced it with is truly ingenious and practical! You hook the edge of the deck under the rim of the coil pin, and you’ve popped out the coil! Simple and great!

In conclusion, perhaps it’s already obvious, the Armour Ultra is a very simple, pocket-friendly device equipped with basic features, complemented by the equally simple yet great iTank T, which is so simple that they don’t even include a coil removal tool. The very fact that everything is so simplified in this set is what draws people in! And the fact that it’s resistant to everything thanks to the IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H ratings is a huge bonus! I can only recommend it! If I couldn’t find fault with it, it can only be good!
