Last time I asked what starter kit everyone would recommend, and I received a lot of suggestions, for which I am very grateful.
I immediately got two new acquisitions: An Eleaf Pico Plus mod with an Aspire Nautilus 3 tank. The other one is a Geekvape Aegis Legend 5 Kit (a thousand thanks to @Vaperina_Kinga Kinga for this one too ).
I figured this way I have both DL and MTL, and then I can decide what I like.
Now I would buy an MTLRTA tank and practice wicking, coiling, etc., until my 10 pieces of coils for the above-mentioned devices last.
My question would be, what wire gauges should I start with? From what Iâve read here, I wouldnât go wrong with around 32-30-28ga, right? And what cotton should I get, what has worked for everyone?
I know Iâm dissecting an issue that has been discussed a thousand times (donât stone me for it), but from what Iâve seen, thereâs a really great community here, I had a good laugh at a few comments, etc.
So thanks in advance for the answers, happy vaping
Visit this thread, there will be plenty of comments, I think you will find a solution
The choice of âcoil buildingâ is like âto each their own taste.â It is highly subjective; different things work for everyone. The cotton is the same way.
But for MTL, I use Vandy Vape 30ga x2 = 38ga (3.5ohm/ft) Ni80 superfine MTL fused clapton, with Vandy Vape Cotton Cloud (3mm).
Hi!! The 28-29-30 ga is indeed a good MTL wire. You will have to decide which one works best for you. I use 29-30 ga Ni80 and Kanthal too!! For cotton, I recommend Vapefly Cotton Clouds, Muji, TFC cotton!
Iâve already looked, but there are as many variations as stars in the sky. Iâm already aware that tastes differ, but I thought there might be some rule of thumb or something to start from.
Wire: Kanthal A1 29 Ga wire (0.3 mm). With this, you will learn to wrap spaced coils, as well as micro coils, and only after that would I move on to Eric Clapton style guitar wires. Zivipf has the best price/value. You can wrap coils with it for MTL around 1-1.5 ohms, and for DL as well.
Cotton: Cotton Bacon Prime (this is a bit denser, harder to work with, but in return, its wicking is NB1-level), or BPmods Pro Cotton (this is softer, easier to work with). Google is your friend regarding sourcing locations.
P.S.: There are no worn-out topics, only uninformed vapers. Ask, and we will answer.
Then I think you should try to experience/figure out roughly how many watts you like to vape at in MTL. Once you have the sweet spot, from then on you can roughly calculate which wire you will need.
You can calculate here:
You can start from here. But it is still worth buying several types of wire at the beginning, because the proof is in the tryingâŠ
Regarding cotton, the BP Mods is better initially because you wonât go crazy figuring out how much you need, as it is sized accordingly. It fits perfectly into a 2.5 or 3 core.
First of all, Iâm very glad that the Legend 5 is working out for you
Secondly, I came to recommend an RTA tank, because I think the method of things is also important. As a first RTA, I would recommend the Dead Rabbit MTL 2, because it is extremely easy to rebuild, so if you get the hang of it initially, you will be able to concentrate on the wires and the wicks. I mean this in the sense that you can figure out which one suits you better. I also use Zivipf wire, Kanthal A1, 28ga. For wicks, I like Cotton Clouds and BP Mods, which I can highly recommend, just as others have done before me. You can find a review of the mentioned tank here:
I donât think you would go wrong with it, because it is simple and capable of very good flavors. Later on, you can try others once your habits and tastes have developed.
