My squonking story and the Vandy Vape Pulse V3

When I first dipped my toes into the world of vaping, a huge amount of information about the selection of devices used to vaporize the liquid was revealed to my eyes. Out of the MTL/RDL/DL options, the DL path was the most appealing to me from the very first moment. Most articles described a ladder from beginner to advanced, featuring examples like pods, atomizer AIOs, atomizer tanks that can be mounted on any mod with a 510 connector, RTAs which come in single/dual/mesh versions, and finally RDAs which can be used by dripping or squonking with single/dual/mesh building. Many people stop at one level, as I did (I used atomizers for about 2 years) because most feel that the level their device offers is sufficient, but there are those driven by curiosity about what it would be like to move up to a “higher level.” Not sparing money or energy, I started buying DL RTAs because after reading the opinions of many experienced vapers, I got so hyped that I wanted to experience the building world myself. After nearly a year and a half to two years of buying/selling RTAs, I concluded that I am extremely picky because if it doesn’t deliver the flavor I get from an atomizer tank, there’s no point in keeping the tank, and I kept searching for the right one for me. Alongside the RTA craze, I also took a look into the squonking world with a Vandy Vape Pulse V2, on which I placed a Wotofo Profile RDTA in RDA mode. Holding the assembled set immediately enchanted me. It’s small, can store a lot of liquid, and is a light, non-pocket-draining device. Built with a mesh strip, I felt I had finally reached my destination and could replace my Horizontech Sakerz atomizers. Only then did daily use arrive, and problems arose that were bothersome to me. Personal preference, I know, but it felt bulky after a while, and filling it was also inconvenient. I got a headache from this magnetic handle and the associated unscrewing method. After unscrewing the filling port, the realization came that after turning the device upside down, the liquid remaining in the RDA dripped onto my shoe and clothes. I immediately got annoyed and was fed up with a few days of squonking. After selling it, I considered getting another squonk mod, but the Topside Dual would have been too heavy for me. The lightness of the Pulse V2, which I didn’t want to give up, was ideal for me. I didn’t stop the RTA hunt, though, and I found the perfect Steam Crave Meson RTA for me. Full flavors, good airflow, large capacity with the bubble glass. I got so enthusiastic about the tank that I felt I had reached my destination and had what would satisfy my needs for years. But then, in the spring, news and videos about the Pulse V3 appeared. They brought exactly the changes I needed: narrower, side filling, the plastic used in the Pulse AIO (I also had a detour towards the boro world), customizability. I was immediately convinced by what I saw and ordered one from Sourcemore. In the meantime, I realized that the Wotofo Profile RDTA might be a bit large for the mod because it became narrower, and driving the 21700 battery at 60-70W, which mesh demands, wasn’t the most ideal choice. Therefore, I started researching a single coil RDA, since the Meson RTA convinced me that a single coil solution is indeed a good alternative to atomizer tanks. After reading countless reports and opinions, I concluded that the Dame Vape Nitrous+ would be the perfect choice. But I still had the Hellvape Dead Rabbit Solo in mind, only the single/dual coil option offered by the Nitrous was more appealing in terms of customizability. Even before the Pulse V3 arrived, I was able to get my hands on the Nitrous earlier, and after the first build, the WOW feeling hit me immediately. This tank is very good. It gave more than my atomizer tanks ever did. At that point, I knew that if the Pulse V3 delivered what I expected from it, I would finally have the “perfect” set. A few weeks later, the squonk mod arrived, and it gripped me from the first touch. It fit perfectly in the hand, the buttons were good. It clicked just as perfectly as my Gaur-18 mod. Filling the tank was finally problem-free, and after a day or two, I concluded that this squonk mod was perfect… But then the “problems” came. Fortunately, not many, but it’s good for the prospective buyer to know about them.

  • since it’s plastic, sometimes you can feel the mod creak a little during a stronger grip.

  • the top of the mod scratches easily from the RDA.

  • a few weeks later, the issue of the magnet glued into the side panel, which I read about on Reddit, came loose.

  • It’s not comfortable to fill the tank with a 120ml Chubby bottle, only with a 60ml bottle.

  • and the last “flaw,” which made me wait to write the review, is the puff counter limitation of 9999 firings (I learned about this on Reddit too, but I hoped it was an isolated error).
Honestly, maybe only I am bothered by this software glitch, but if the previous Pulse V2 and the currently used Gaur-18 can display more than 9999, why doesn’t it work here? Fortunately, in the menu, when resetting the puff counter, it shows the state after 9999, but it would have been better on the main screen.

Returning to the side panel issue, kudos to the manufacturer because after reporting my problem with the magnet, they immediately sent a replacement side panel.
Despite the many negatives, I received so much positive from this mod that I grew very fond of it despite its flaws. So much so that after the first month, I bought another one. The magnet adhesion issue occurred with this one too, but Healthcabin rather refunded the price of the mod, and I reattached the magnet with superglue, and it has been working perfectly ever since. I bought a Dead Rabbit Solo RDA for it, which gives exactly the same experience as the Nitrous but cheaper and offers more variability in airflow. After both Pulse V3 sets served me for a longer period, I liked them so much that a third Pulse V3 + DR Solo combo is currently on its way.

In summary of the slightly lengthy squonking experience report and my Pulse V3 experiences, I think it is a great choice for anyone jumping into the world of squonk devices right now, despite its flaws. But those who are more attracted to the design language and solidity provided by the Pulse V2 will not be disappointed either, because both mods are excellent gateway drugs into the squonk world. Reddit has a lot of positive reviews and experiences about how rock solid these devices are in the affordable category. They will easily run even after 200k puffs.

+1 tip for the coil. Among the RDAs I have tested so far, the Coilology Alien V2 Coil Ni80 3*28/36Ga 2.5mm worked best for me. It provides a balanced experience at 40-45W.

+1 tip for getting a starter set. Healthcabin has been running a long-term points collection promotion that allows you to get a $16.8 discount in one month. https://www.healthcabin.net/blog/how-to-get-free-1680-reward-points-every-month/ To this, you can also add a monthly 15% coupon. If we apply the coupon at checkout during the promotion period, the discount remains applied even after its expiration. Pulse V3+Dead Rabbit Solo/Dead Rabbit Solo 6th+Coilology Alien V2 Coil Ni80 3*28/36Ga 2.5mm+Bp Mods 2.5mm cotton I think this is a very favorable price at about $52 (currently around 19,000 Ft) including shipping.

Szuper iromány, teljesen más úton nagyjából ugyan oda lyukadtál ki ahol én is vagyok jó ideje, mondhatni körülbelül azonosak a preferenciáink vapelés terén.

This morning I managed to make my darling fly onto the kitchen tiles. All the parts flew in every direction. I thought to myself, this is going to hurt. I’m reporting that I didn’t find a single scratch on it, even though it fell apart properly. :hugs:

They hold up surprisingly well for being plastic

Contentful test.

I also love squonking, I just chose a bad mod, like the Wotofo Profile mod. It fell once at home, and the squonk side battery holder broke.

I took it apart. That broken part could easily be made of rubber too. I’m still thinking about what to do with it.

By the way, all my mods’ 510 connectors get scratched the same way.

Moreover, I just got a Gaur 21, and the battery cover squeaks there too when I grip it.

I would also like to improve, how good it would be to have an Australian Zero mod.

I’m just a little scared of mechanical mods :slightly_smiling_face:

Buy V3.

You won’t regret it. :hugs:

Don’t be afraid of it, it won’t harm you!

If you’ve vaped before and have something to check your setup, there shouldn’t be a problem.

At most, if your battery runs low, you’ll have less vapor :man_shrugging:

That’s it

Before Mech mods, get a Dovpo Topside Dual. :ok_hand:t2:

Yes, unfortunately I don’t have a coil checker, but I know what I’m coiling.

Usually Vandy Vape N80 wire 1.58 ohm/feet, from that 5 wraps on a 3mm inner diameter, about 0.3-0.4 ohm with 5mm leg trimming

I keep checking HealthCabin but my wife will divorce me if I buy another mod  I’ll keep that in mind!

I’ve already mentioned in several posts, “never again Wotofo…”

The build quality of the tanks isn’t great either; a screw or thread is ruined, and on another one (Troll X) the rubber tears.

Even a single Chinese clone is better than Wotofo!!! (correct me if I’m wrong, or if I just got junk)

For me, the Profile Squonk has no issues other than re-sticking one magnet.
Not the best, but a usable category.
