Revolut currency exchange transfer

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a Revolut guru.

My problem is the following:

I bought some things for Poland.:slightly_smiling_face:
I need to transfer the purchase price in Zloty.
What do you think is better for me?
Should I log into MBH online banking and transfer it, and that’s it, or Revolut?

I need to transfer 660 Zloty.
Looking at Revolut, theoretically, if I top it up from my MBH card via Google Play, it’s free. I’ve already created the Zloty local account in Revolut. If I top it up from my HUF card, it’s also theoretically 0 cost if I do it on a weekday. If I read correctly, it’s 350k HUF/month free conversion. The transfer to the Poles is again 0 HUF because it goes to a local account.

If all this is true, then Revolut is the winner.

Revolut wins!

I’ve been reading about this too.

I’m wondering if it’s also like that in practice as I’ve described. It sounds too good to be true. But if it’s really like that, then it’s great.

Thank you.

Revolut exchanges at the mid-rate, so it’s cheaper for you

So, is this monthly 350k Ft exchange free, just blah blah?

Well, this is getting more and more interesting. It says here that in order to have a virtual card, I must apply for a physical one. But I didn’t apply for a physical one, or rather, I don’t know. I’ve had a virtual card for a long time. I don’t have a physical one though, I didn’t request it. It says the virtual card is active. So how did I do this? Another question that came up is if I top up my euro account from the HUF account, does Revolut convert the sent HUF, or does MBH send euros already? Will I be heavily charged for the conversion?

MBH sends forints, and Revolut converts it to euros.

Revolut app – it converts internally… not nearly as good as it used to be, but still better than banks. If you have Forints, then top up the Forint wallet (don’t transfer) then convert it to the currency you’d use to pay for the product. For online payments, the app performs the conversion itself. Normal bank transfers and exchanges will be more expensive than with Revolut. If you withdraw money from an ATM, it will ask about the exchange if you need a different currency… in this case, stick to Revolut’s exchange rate, as you always should when this question arises anywhere. For example, PayPal used to rip people off (it might still do so)… so there too, you should select Revolut’s conversion.

Now everything is clear.

Thank you.

Is the use of the virtual card really like this? Because I don’t have a physical card, I didn’t request one, but I do have a virtual one, and it expires in 2028.

You can’t use the ATM with it, besides that, everything else works.

Thank you both for the quick, accurate answer.

Everything is great now.:slightly_smiling_face:

One more thing… never exchange or pay online in a different currency than you have on weekends… because Revolut exchanges much worse then than on weekdays :index_pointing_up:

Thanks. I’ve already read about this. What’s important is that it’s according to New York time.

That’s why I’m flying there on Sunday  … it would be good to start packing for 3 months
By the way, I figured out that I’ll take 35ml of nicotine and buy 1L of PG there because transporting pre-mixed e-liquid is limited to 300ml.

Lucky you. :slightly_smiling_face: I’d love to see the Home Alone house someday. Heh, good stuff. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: You know, everything…

Are you thinking of this? Uncle Rob’s House :slightly_smiling_face:

Because, by the way, their home was in Chicago… if I read correctly

Yes, that’s how it is.
