What composition e-liquid base do you use, and how much do you consume?
I’ve been using 50pg/50vg so far, now I decided to try something new and mixed 40pg/60vg. My vapor cloud became more spectacular but more liquid was consumed. Moreover, for flavor intensity, I had to increase the wattage, which of course consumes even more liquid. Anyway, I like the sight and the flavors are also silkier, but the consumption…. Is this normal? I thought because it’s thicker this way, the wick will draw it slower and less will be consumed….nonsense!
I operate with a 50/50 base liquid ratio and then top this up with aroma. I prefer concentrated flavorings recommended at 3-5%, I usually mix at or below the factory recommendation, it comes out economical and the flavors are even stronger.
Obviously, my liquid is thinner this way, but I spend a lot of time outdoors and in winter, it really reduces fluidity, and even then my bottles are wrinkled…
However, in the summer, due to the heat, I have to wick more carefully, I try to find shade for the liquids, and I’ve never had a tank flood…
In summer I mix at a 70/30, in winter 60/40 and 50/50 VG/PG ratio, I never paid attention to consumption, rather leaking, method of use (DL or MTL) is the consideration for me.
For quite some time now, I’ve been mixing so that the final result, including everything, is about 50-50. For full DL… I’m not excited by the appearance and quantity of vapor… I’m interested in good flavor, and + PG helps with that. For a long time, I stuck to the idea that for DL, you need 70VG/30PG to avoid leaking… then after discussions here, I switched to 50/50… It works perfectly with AIOs, RDAs, and a DLRTA.
I’m of the opinion that it uses as much as it uses. I use 60VG/40PG liquids with a single coil. Silky flavors, vapors are fine, I am satisfied with it. I use it in RDL, mostly around 0.8 ohm and 18-20 watts.
Nothing leaks anywhere, and I don’t have dry hits either. BP mods, or Cotton Clouds cotton.
Although I think a lot depends on the chosen set-up too.
I would also like to add that if you are specifically curious about consumption, in the past I could accurately calculate the monthly amount. At that time, I mixed in a 70 VG/30 PG ratio, consuming one longfill per week, meaning 480 ml per month. All this back then with an atomizer, in DL (Direct Lung), at 0.3-0.5 ohm, between 30-40 watts.
My usage method outlined above differs today, but my consumption has still remained around 500 ml per month.
I don’t know if this is a lot compared to others… perhaps a bit… or if it’s normal… but it doesn’t bother me, it is what it is. I assume that those who exclusively use MTL have lower consumption.
I have no idea how much it could be… I’ve wanted to measure so many times how much I consume at 100… But so many different kinds are in play… Sometimes it comes out, sometimes I put it away…, so it would be serious administration to tally it up.
Roughly, it might be between 300-400 ml.
At work, low wattage but DL… with little vapor, so as not to bother anyone… At home, RDA at 40 watts and various Aios between 20-25 watts, but to be honest, it doesn’t matter at all how much is consumed as long as vaping and the associated community bring so much joy…
