Hello ![]()
The site has been expanded with a very useful new feature: you can now call each other directly through Vaperina.
There must have been times when it would have been much simpler to show a new coil build, a mod setting, or just quickly discuss something via voice or video than typing long messages. From now on, you don’t need to exchange phone numbers or switch to third-party applications (Discord, Messenger, etc.) for this, because we’ve built the solution into Vaperina! ![]()
A new Call button has appeared in the header, as well as on profiles and user cards. Just click it, the system will ring on the other end, and if they pick up, the conversation can start – with voice or even video, from both desktop and mobile.
Where to find it?
Header
You can bring up the Vaperina Call panel with the button in the header.

Private Chat
You can immediately call the user you are chatting with using the button in the chat.

Profile Card and Page
You can immediately call the user with the button on the profile and card.
User Interface
We have strived to make the user interface clearly user-friendly.
Privacy and Security: What’s said stays between you.
The most important thing to know about the system is that this feature is 100% private and does not collect data.
No call recording.
We do not save or store any audio or video.
We do not keep a log of who called whom and when.
What happens in the background?
The call works using so-called Peer-to-Peer [P2P] (WebRTC) technology. This means that Vaperina only helps with the “ringing” of the call, but once the connection is established, our servers completely exit the process.
Audio and video data flows directly between the two devices (your phone/computer and the called party’s device).
- Why is this good? It’s lightning-fast, there’s no extra latency due to our server, and it’s physically impossible for anyone else to access the broadcast stream.
- Good to know: A built-in technology (STUN) helps the two devices find each other online, which is completely automatic. Very rarely, the network may block direct connection (e.g., with strict corporate firewalls, special mobile networks).
- To handle this, we plan to set up a TURN server later, which will act as a kind of “safety bridge”: if a direct connection cannot be established, this server will help transmit the signal, so in the future, you will be able to call each other flawlessly from virtually any network.
Who can call whom? (Spam Protection)
As with other contact methods, calling is available from trust level 1.
To prevent unwanted calls and harassment, we have built in an important filter:
Only users who mutually follow each other can call each other.
This way, you can be sure that no one will randomly call you; you will only receive calls from people with whom you are already connected within the community.
Let’s test it! (Beta)
Since the feature is brand new, we are still at the beginning of our journey. There may still be minor hiccups in different browsers, phones, and networks.
Try it out, feel free to call each other, and share your experiences in this topic!
- What do you think of the feature itself?
- What was the audio and video quality like?
- Did you encounter any errors during ringing or the call?
We are very grateful for all feedback, as it helps us refine it further. I wish you pleasant conversations! ![]()
