Thank you for pointing that out. ![]()
Although it’s not entirely on topic, I also have an instructive experience to share.
I am allergic to all kinds of costume jewelry. I always knew this, but I didn’t know exactly which metals I was sensitive to. I didn’t really deal with this issue much because I figured I would just wear silver or gold, and that’s that. (If at all.)
But the topic has come to the forefront in the last few weeks after I delved deeper into the world of building. Since I always used Kanthal material for my atomizers, I thought it would be fine for building too.
But they also sent me a Clapton for my DL RTA, which made me very curious because I heard so many good things about it giving better flavors or a better experience.
Curiosity kept nagging me until I decided to try it. Except this build is nickel-based. Okay, I thought, let’s go get an allergy test. Okay, I called the doctor. They said I first need to go to a dermatologist, and then they would send me for further tests from there. Oh, mama, I thought…we had to wait three months (!) for our last dermatology appointment. (I took the child then.)
So it would have taken months, or I think at least weeks, to find out if I could use the nickel Clapton.
So I put it in my Hellvape and went for it.
And here is the point. It didn’t take two puffs, or two minutes, my tongue immediately started tingling and I started feeling dizzy. At first, I wanted to convince myself that perhaps it wasn’t from that, I couldn’t possibly be that sensitive to it. Okay, so after a little while, let’s try it again. Exactly the same thing. Then a third time. ![]()
After this, I thought it was better not to mess with it, as it became clear that I am super sensitive to it and no matter how much I wanted to, this wouldn’t work for me.
I absolutely do not want to recommend similar home experimentation to anyone. It is better to be examined by a doctor.
I just wanted to share my somewhat similar experience.
The conclusion is that I will stick to my tried-and-true Kanthal setup, which I am completely satisfied with, by the way. ![]()
