Rubik Rta (clone)

After running into @Janos_Groszeibl’s complimentary words about the tank 20 times, I decided to try it. The original is around €135, I bought it for €30 including postage.

Nice piece of gear, and my experience is that what looks good is also good. Let’s see.

Metal - metal threads, glass sleeve… so far so good.

I bought the full version:

6 types of chimney

This is what I use:

6 types of air pin:

plus the 1x1.5 mm one included.

The tank is RDTA-like; two small tubes deliver the liquid to the cotton. From bottom to top, utilizing capillary action. During building, the goal is to ensure these small tubes do not get clogged but still deliver the fluid to the cotton. Easy! - I thought, until the first dry hit.

But let’s build it.

We need wire:

and cotton

I tried several types of cotton; only this one worked in the Rubik. The others resulted in a dry hit.

2.25 mm core 5 wraps ~1.1 ohm.

I cut the cotton diagonally:

after fitting it into the trough, here comes the trick:

I pull the cotton outwards in two directions from the small holes. This is necessary because otherwise, the wet cotton sits in the hole, creates a barrier, and prevents the liquid from rising.

If everything comes together, a nice cloud is our reward.

When refilling, you need to cover the airflow hole with your finger; then it only gurgles a little, but it won’t leak.

The Rubik quickly climbed into my top 3. I think it’s slightly better than the Dvarw. For me.

I tested it through thick and thin; it never leaked. Not even where the Dvarw had already leaked.

(I compare it to the Dvarw because, with my other RTAs, both the airflow and the liquid supply can be shut off.)

I would like to thank @Janos_Groszeibl again for the recommendation, and I am glad I followed his advice (even if it wasn’t directed at me)!

The Rubik RTA is highly recommended from my side!

Thank you for reading, have a nice day!

After two weeks of daily use, I can say it has excellent vapor and flavor. If you can afford it, buy the original; if not, I recommend the Ulton clone. 10/10
