Hi everyone! For my wife, it doesn’t matter at all what the wattage is, whether it’s TC mode, MTL or DL, a few puffs, but sometimes even from one puff, she immediately feels like the vapor is choking her lungs. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, was there a solution?
Hi. A few questions
Did you just start?
What’s the juice ratio?
What material is the coil made of?
Hey!
Yes, it exists, I have this problem with NiCr wires, Kanthal wire is perfect for me, try several types of wire too! Perhaps the problem will be solved… ![]()
Sure. When I started, I felt the same for 2-3 weeks after 20 cigarettes a day, because it irritated my damaged mucous membranes. It will pass, don’t smoke cigarettes alongside it, start with small puffs, drink plenty of fluids. ![]()
If you just started, it’s normal. The solution - patience and perseverance,
Hi!
In the family, I was the first one to start vaping.
But I immediately bought devices for my wife as well.
Honestly, I didn’t buy them so we would quit cigarettes, but just to try it out.
For me, the complete switch went entirely smoothly,
but my wife really liked it and everything,
but she was constantly choking on it, similar to how your wife is.
I had already given up on her being able to switch,
even though she really liked the stuff.
And as we progressed and she consumed fewer and fewer analog cigarettes, these symptoms disappeared.
So, in my opinion, mixed use can cause the whole thing.
Keep up the good work
you will succeed
Hello everyone! Your story is interesting to me, because neither I nor my partner had such a problem, although back then, pretty much only Kanthal wire existed. Thus, I later realized the sensitivity to nichrome wires.
Hi Atis!
To be honest, I have no idea what coil was in it.. I guess it was a pre-filled mesh pod head.. back then you could get it in the tobacco shop ![]()

Nicotine sensitivity is a possibility, but the main reason for the brutal coughing/choking after transitioning is usually that smoke and vapor aren’t good friends. It passes relatively quickly, just don’t inhale the two simultaneously.
About 3 weeks ago, 70-30, in winter 50-5
4 things suddenly came to mind.
1 As many have written before me, it can make you cough when used together with traditional cigarettes or even during the few weeks of acclimatizing.
2 Too hot vapor, too high wattage for the coil, poorly calibrated TC mode.
3 Some kind of allergy, possibly nickel, in which case SS316L is not good because it contains it too. What is nickel-free is Kanthal or SS430 (it’s worth ordering from a reliable source, no-name Chinese brands will print whatever the customer asks for…).
Or it could be PG intolerance/allergy, or the body is reacting to something in the flavor ingredients. I’ve also encountered flavors that made me choke. Have you tried multiple liquids? Different manufacturers, different flavors, maybe a thinner mix?
4 Possibly nicotine? If you’ve tried freebase, it might be worth trying nic salt too.
Unfortunately, this is a trial-and-error process, and it can be quite difficult to figure out what might be causing it.
Now it’s saying after they hit mine (0.11ohm
Well, I think my lungs would have jumped out from that….

But
Well, it was finally solved with Kanthal wire, fortunately
