I got a few tanks from a friend because he quit vaping years ago. They looked terrible because he didn’t even wash the liquid out of them. I had to take them apart and soak them in alcohol. Now I reassembled the Nautilus, but maybe I installed the lower/upper gasket of the sleeve incorrectly. Maybe it’s a very silly question, but should the grooved side of the rubber gasket face the sleeve section or the housing? I also got a bunch of new gaskets, so I replaced them, but it’s leaking a little.
I see no one could comment… or was it such a stupid question? I turned it around, now the perforated side is towards the shroud, so it’s a bit better, but it still sweats a little.
BUT this is no longer the main problem, but that it leaks all the liquid from the bottom vent hole overnight. The day before there was no problem, I vaped some from it in the evening, put it down, and now there’s a puddle on the table.
Is this typical for this type? Or what the hell could be the cause? Is it worth bothering with? I tightened the atomizer properly, the seal is on it.
PS. I already remember why I didn’t try different tanks further years ago, after I found the Joyetech ProCore X and Aries types. No leaking, sweating, or spitting. Maybe I should get a third one of these instead (I’d like to switch flavors more often). I struggled so much with Joyetech’s Cubis series. That’s only good if someone wants to drink the liquid, not vape it, it spits so much.
Hi!
Unfortunately, I don’t know the tank in question, but I have also tried several atomizers. Of those I have tried, the only one that doesn’t leak at all is the Voopoo Doric Astra. All the others either leaked as you described, or I constantly had to wipe them. Of course, the one I use isn’t good for you, because if I understand correctly, you are a DL user.
Yes, it’s DL. This Nautilus isn’t strictly DL either, but it works as one too. I was hoping it would work well because I’ve heard good things about this model so far. Maybe someone will offer some helpful advice, and if there’s no solution, I’ll get the same one I’m using now.
Thanks, I’ll check it tonight because unfortunately I have to work today too.
By the way, I used to build my own coils for a while, but for convenience reasons, I switched to the atomizer. Maybe if I have time, I’ll build coils again. I have several tanks for it.
Hi, I don’t know this tank either, but looking at the video, it uses the BVC atomizer, which I also use sometimes in my Nautilus 2 and 3 tanks. You might find 1 factory defect out of every 20-30 pieces, but generally, they don’t leak, they don’t let the liquid through (especially not puddle-sized amounts), it might gurgle a bit on the first puff but is fine afterwards. This is what I experienced; there were times when I put it down for a week and there was no leakage.
Based on this, I would suspect a vacuum problem, which could be due to a non-fitting or incorrectly sized part, a missing gasket, or even deformation (e.g., due to impact) or a hairline crack in the tank’s metal material (top cap, deck, etc.).
Your original question concerned the position of the gasket; this might also be the cause of the leak. You might find the answer in the linked video or try searching for an exploded diagram using Google Image Search. I didn’t have much time for this now, but for example, I found this. Because a gasket might be missing elsewhere, causing it not to hold the vacuum.
One thing was that I put the wrong seal under the sleeve. I received a ton of rubber rings along with the tanks, which are for about 5-6 types. The one I selected fit perfectly into the groove under the sleeve (bottom of the Metal Sleeve in the exploded diagram), but its thickness was probably insufficient. In the evening, I also found a round cross-section one that fit the size there, but there is an identical one on the top, under the fill cap (diagram Top Cap). After that, I replaced all the seals as well. For example, the one where the drip tip goes in has two tiny thin rings on the other side that slide into the top of the atomizer (it fit quite loosely), I found new ones for there too. I reassembled it and for now, it seems good. It didn’t leak anything until morning. The sweating/weeping at the sleeve also stopped.
So, thank you very much!
I had to guess from this what belongs under the sleeve:
I watched the video. It only says good things about it. The only thing that caught my attention was the atomizer’s lifespan. He said he killed it in one day. I’ll be curious about that, because for me, Vaporesso atomizers last for weeks in the Joyetech ProCore. Of course, it matters what you put in it.
I’m glad you managed to find the source of the problem and piece together the seals, well done
That is exactly right, it lasts much longer with a colorless, less sweet fruity liquid than with a colored, sweetened, overly flavored juice. Not to mention tobacco extract, which if it’s not filtered or doesn’t say ForPod on it, kills the atomizer after about 5 puffs. I think the amount of cotton also matters (how much gunk it can absorb); unfortunately, the BVC is inherently a thin, tall atomizer, less cotton fits in it, so what Todd said might also be true.
Once I received an aroma from someone that even the Vaporesso GT Core turned to charcoal within 1-2 days. I don’t remember what it was anymore, but it coked up as if they had simply sweetened it with sugar. I threw it away because the atomizer is too expensive to replace daily. Anyway, I think the mesh coils last much longer. I used to use the regular GT4, then switched to the GT4 mesh version, and the replacement period significantly increased, and the flavor also came out better. Last time I couldn’t get GT4, only the mesh from GT2. I thought this one with one less hole would last less time, but I was pleasantly surprised because it lasts even longer. I changed it after a month, but it still didn’t have a burnt taste, although it had become quite dark in color when I looked inside. I thought it wouldn’t be healthy to use it any further.
