For the benefit of the community, we have taken some decisive steps regarding the use of the site!
What are these steps?
- Trust Levels
- Restrictions on user actions
Trust levels operate on the site.
Trust levels:
- Trust Level 0 (New User)
- Trust Level 1 (Vaper)
- Trust Level 2 (Member)
- Trust Level 3 (Mentor)
The user trust system is the fundamental cornerstone of the site. Using trust levels is a way to…
-
Place new users in a so-called sandbox within the community so that they do not accidentally cause harm to themselves or other users while learning how to use the site. It also protects other users from spam messages and other unwanted actions.
-
Grant more rights to experienced users over time so they can help everyone maintain and moderate the community, to which they generously contribute much of their time.
Trust Level 0 - New User
Basically, every new user starts at trust level 0, meaning trust must still be earned. These are visitors who have just created an account and are still learning the community norms and how the community works. The capabilities of new users are limited for the sake of safety - for their own sake and for the sake of the other members of the community.
(We want to hide all “advanced” features from new users so that the user interface is less confusing for them until they have more experience.)
Trust Level 0 users are unable to…
- Send private messages to other users
- Use the chat
- Talk to Gilbert
- “Reply as a linked topic” using the (share) button
- Flag posts
- Post more than 3 images in their posts
- Post more than 2 links in their posts
- View external links in public posts
- Post real links in their profile “About Me” field (we temporarily display these as plain text)
- Mention more than 2 users in their posts
- Create more than 3 topics
- Create more than 10 replies
New users’ first posts must be approved by a moderator before appearing.
Trust Level 1 - Vaper
At Vaperina, we believe that reading is the most basic and healthy activity of any community. If a new user is willing to spend a little time reading, we will quickly promote them to the first trust level.
Reaching Trust Level 1…
- Opened (viewed) at least 5 topics
- Read at least 30 posts (comments)
- Spent at least 10 minutes reading poststt
Trust Level 1 users can…
- Use all basic functions; all new user restrictions are lifted
- Click on external links in public posts
- Send private messages to other users
- Chat with Gilbert
- Use chat
- Flag posts
- Mute other users
Trust Level 2 - Member
Members return to the community consistently over weeks; they have not only read but have participated actively and consistently enough to be fully trusted.
To reach Trust Level 2…
- Visit on at least 15 non-consecutive days
- Received at least 1 like
- Given at least 1 like
- Replied to at least 3 different topics
- Opened (viewed) at least 20 topics
- Read at least 100 posts (comments)
- Spent at least 60 minutes reading posts
Trust Level 2 users can…
- Invite new users to a specific topic. Using the share button, they can invite new users to participate in the topic as well.
- Invite external users to private conversations, thereby creating a group private conversation.
- View external links in public posts
- Have their daily like limit increased (1.5x)
(The like limit is increased by trust level)
/ day - Ignore other users
- Advertise in the #adok-veszek (buy-sell) and #off-topik:piacter (off-topic:marketplace) categories
Trust Level 3 - Mentor
Mentors form the backbone of the Community, being the most active readers and most reliable contributors for months or even years. Since they are present on the site most of the time, we can grant them greater trust to help organize and maintain the community.
To reach Trust Level 3 in the last 100 days…
- Must have visited the site at least 50% of the days
- Replied to at least 10 different, non-PM (private message) topics
- Viewed 25% of the topics created in the last 100 days (up to 500)
- Read 25% of the posts created in the last 100 days (up to 20,000)
- Received at least 20 likes and given 30 likes *
- Received a maximum of 5 Spam or Offensive flags on their posts during this time (on unique posts and from unique users, all confirmed by a moderator)
- Must not have been suspended or muted
*These likes must come from a minimum number of different users (1/5 of the number) and over a minimum number of different days (1/4 of the number). Likes cannot come from PMs (private messages).
To reach Trust Level 3, all of the above criteria must be met. Furthermore, unlike other trust levels, you may lose your Trust Level 3 status. If you fall below these requirements within the last 100 days, you will be demoted back to Member status. However, to avoid constant promotion/demotion cycles, there is a 2-week grace period immediately after obtaining Trust Level 3, during which you cannot lose this status.
Trust Level 3 users can…
- Categorize and rename topics
- Access a secure category that is only visible to users with Trust Level 3 or higher
- Have automatic nofollow removed from all their links
- Have posts from Trust Level 0 new users immediately hidden if reported as Spam by a Trust Level 3 (Helper) user.
- Have new users at Trust Level 0 automatically muted and all their posts hidden if reported too frequently by Trust Level 3 Mentors.
- Create their own wiki posts (any user with Trust Level 1+ can edit these posts)
- Have their daily like limit increased (2x).
(The like limit is increased per trust level)
/ day
Tracking Trust Level Progress
You can now track your trust level progress on your profile page.
We believe this trust system will be successful and lead to a stronger, more sustainable community by carefully empowering Members, Moderators, and Team members alike. But just like Vaperina, the trust system will evolve over time.
We will update this topic whenever changes occur!
Limiting Personal Actions
Why can’t you delete a topic or ad you created yourself?
Why can your post only be deleted after 24 hours?
Why can’t you simply delete your account?
All of this is for the benefit of the community and serves the community’s interests!
A community can only remain sustainable if we are able to work together and grow by supporting each other.
Why can’t you delete a topic or ad you created yourself?
When you create a topic, you authorize other users to participate in the conversation about that topic. It would not be ethical to simply withdraw that authorization, as they place a certain level of trust in you with their replies, making them just as much a part of the discussion as you, who created the topic. As long as the topicif you receive no response, you have the option to withdraw or delete it. Subsequently, instead of the topic content, the message (topic deleted by author) will be displayed, and after 24 hours, the topic will be removed. During this time, the author has the opportunity to restore the topic. Users can still view the topic history even for a withdrawn but still visible topic.
Let’s take an example regarding this…
You create a topic that has been on the site for months, with continuous activity, hundreds of posts, and conversations taking place under your topic… You decide on a whim to delete it, thereby breaking all those valuable posts, expressions, and conversations that the users have created. We cannot allow this! Of course, if you can provide a proper justification for the deletion, we will review it, and if we find it valid, we will approve your deletion request.
You must report the deletion of a topic or advertisement to a Moderator, including a reason, by clicking the
icon!
There are few things as community-damaging as this. If we allowed this to happen so easily, it would sooner or later cost us the users’ trust!
Why is your post only deleted after 24 hours?
The same applies to posts.
With a post or a reply, you are likewise creating a conversation, and if you disrupt it, all subsequent comments attached to it may lose their meaning. However, you do not need to justify the deletion of your post! You can do it at any time, but for 24 hours, a message (post deleted by author) will remain visible to other users, and they can view the withdrawn post in the history. During this time, the author, of course, has the opportunity to restore their post if they happen to change their mind regarding the deletion.
Why can’t you simply delete your account?
When deleting a user account, we take several factors into account. For example, the topics, posts, advertisements, ratings, etc., associated with the given account. If there has been no activity whatsoever in the user account, the user has the option to delete it. You can do this in the settings on the Account page by clicking Deleteby clicking the button.
Naturally, if a user were to delete themselves, they would do so along with all of their activity. As per the point mentioned above, we cannot allow this in every case.
However, we cannot restrict a user from leaving the Vaperina Community if they no longer wish to be a member.
In such cases, there are 2 possible scenarios.
-
We check the user’s public activity, and if it is not significant and does not harm the community, we comply with their request and delete the account.
-
If the user is an active member of the community and has numerous helpful posts, we transfer this content to a so-called anonymous user! These do nothing but retain posts that do not contain personal content, ensuring that the meaning of established conversations remains intact in most places!
You can request the deletion of your user account at the info@vaperina.com email address!
Section for Advertisers, Interested Parties, and Advertisements
Naturally, the points mentioned above also apply to Advertisers and advertisements, but the “why” is slightly different for them.
For them, these questions, points, and regulations serve more of a security role.
If you will, we do not let potential scammers leave the site without a trace!
Marking Advertisements (Sold / Purchased / Exchanged / Withdrawn)
Upon marking, the advertisement enters an archived state. This means all user operation options cease. Examples include modifying the ad, writing a reply, or liking, etc. The ad is removed from the email summary and maintains its position among the advertisements where it was marked as sold.
Why is it not worth trying to scam us?
-
If you create an advertisement on the site, you are fully responsible for it and its content (description, images). This is why we cannot allow you to simply delete it. In every case, justification and our approval are required for deletion.
-
Traceable modifications. If you change the content of the ad (description, images), other users can review these modifications. This way, it cannot happen that you try to sell something different than what you originally advertised by just changing the content.

-
It cannot happen that an Advertiser disappears from the system without a trace by deleting or terminating their user account. In every case where such a request is received, we review all of the user’s past activity and decide whether to comply with the request based on that.
As soon as there is a change or addition, we will update the topic…
