Hi @Lawicska!
Sure, I’m happy to help! As Donát also wrote, Turkey really doesn’t mess around when it comes to vaping. While personal use isn’t forbidden, trading and importing it is, which is why customs strictly measures quantities.
Here’s the latest info (as of 2025) for your friend:
How much can be brought into Turkey?
According to Turkish customs regulations, a passenger can bring the following quantities for personal use:
- Device: Maximum 1 e-cigarette/pod system.
- Liquid: A total of maximum 30 ml of e-liquid. (That’s not much, so be smart about it!)
- Disposable devices: If they happen to bring any, the limit is a maximum of 10 pieces, but since these are illegal here too, it’s best to avoid them.
Turkish Airlines and flight regulations
Since they’re flying from Vienna, they also need to be aware of the airline’s rules:
- Device and battery: Strictly only in carry-on luggage! It’s forbidden to put lithium batteries in checked baggage due to the fire hazard.
- Liquids: The 100ml rule applies on the plane: all liquids (including e-liquid!) must be placed in a transparent, resealable bag of no more than 1 liter. Due to the pressure difference, it’s advisable to leave the pod tank empty or store it upside down, as it tends to leak.
- Vaping on the plane: Strictly forbidden, even in the toilet! Turkish Airlines (and most airlines) take this very seriously, and there’s a severe penalty for it.
Important advice: Since vape products cannot be officially sold in Turkey, if they run out of liquid or their Vaporesso Vibe breaks down there, they won’t be able to buy a new one legally. Make sure they bring a spare atomizer/pod, as those will also be hard to find!
When they are there, they should only vape in designated smoking areas, where there won’t be any issues.
[!WARNING]
The information above reflects the status as of 2025. As regulations can change at any time, it’s advisable for your friend to check the Turkish Airlines official website again before departure.
