I would like to ask for your help again. I’ve started delving into this topic again, first I bought an A&L shortfill 50ml, I added 10ml of VG-based nicotine, this was perfect.
Then I bought several A&L flavorings which I mixed using a syringe, precisely measured, in a 50-50 PG-VG ratio with 8% flavoring content. All the flavorings are fruity, after 3 days of trying, it was very harsh and irritated my throat. I read up on it and again, precisely calculated, I diluted it with a syringe to 60 VG.
This happened exactly 2 days ago, I tried it again today and it still irritates my throat, makes me cough after every puff, and the taste is nowhere near that of the shortfill. Since I foolishly bought everything, I don’t want to give up. I mixed 2 types of flavorings (Hidden Potion Green Banana and Queen Peach), and the situation is the same with both. All ingredients were purchased fresh 1-2 weeks ago.
(I bought longfills from Bombo and Drifter, but those are sickeningly sweet due to the 20% flavoring.)
Tldr: why can’t I achieve the shortfill experience with my DIY mix?
Szia.
I, however, steep even those that are marked for 3 days for longer than 3-5 days Minimum 1 week, but rather 2-3. Shaking them multiple times a day. With nicotine ones, I even let them ‘breathe’ a bit.
Don’t get discouraged, it didn’t work for me the first time either. Just mix smaller batches and then you’ll eventually find the perfect combo, what ratio to mix it in
Szia!
Wine is also poisonous while it ferments. Then, with the passing of years, it matures.
That 1-2-3 days you mention before tasting the crab, I think it’s too little; it’s currently mixing and maturing, and the causes of your complaints might be released in them. Wait at least a week, I think.
Did you mix the same thing and in the same ratio into the shortfill too?
Do the shortfill and the aroma flavor match?
Did you add more aroma after diluting with VG? Because if it was 8% in 70ml, it’s only 5.6% when diluted to 100ml.
I mixed and vaped relatively a lot of A&L. The fruit flavors give me what I need a few minutes after mixing. Maybe they don’t even steep properly before the bottle content runs out
But there were times when it sat for weeks, and I noticed no change.
Granted, I haven’t tried A&L shortfills or longfills yet, maybe I’d be surprised, I don’t know.
Maybe try airing it out, open the bottle, remove the dropper cap too, and leave it like that for hours, 2-3 days.
Or you could try the syringe vacuum method with a tankful dose, it sometimes brought improvement for me (not in the case of A&L, I never had issues with that):
Freebase and 50/50 PG/VG. The same thing didn’t go into the shortfill, but rather a 100% VG based one.
The flavors don’t match, only the manufacturer (though I also have the same flavor in aroma that I will try).
When diluting to 100, my good friend ChatGPT helped me dilute it so that the flavor and nicotine ratio would remain the same, while the VG would be 60, which is why I had to go up to 100 from 70.
For now, I’m just waiting, but in the meantime, my shortfill ran out, and it’s frustrating that all this stuff is sitting here and I can’t vape it.
Just because freebase nicotine has a throat hit while salt does not, I thought maybe this could be the reason for the difference.
A shortfill and flavor concentrate with the same taste could be a good basis for comparison; it might be worth trying with that. But only in small amounts, so you can then experiment with it.
As mentioned above, nicotine salt might be a solution for the future. I also realized quite quickly that freebase is not for me. Moreover, MTL never worked properly for me because it scratched (even the nicotine salt), so I quickly switched to the DL technique.
