Family Christmas and vape shop fair 2.0 in Spain

Buoyed by our summer family vacation, my dear wife pulled a bold idea out of the hat: let’s spend Christmas abroad! At first, I was hesitant about the idea, but upon further reflection, I realized that we deserved this much rest, as our Christmas ritual for about 15 years has consisted of going from Veszprém to Győr to my mother-in-law’s on the 24th, spending Christmas Eve there, returning to Veszprém on the morning of the 25th, then on the morning of the 26th heading to my parents’ place in Velence, and then back home the same afternoon, regardless of whether by train or car (which we’ve had for 4 years), in snow or wind, with or without children, we had to go, because that’s the expectation… So, we informed them well in advance that we wouldn’t be home this year, then we headed to Ferihegy on the 22nd, and off to Barcelona.

We spent a day there as a rest, but during this time I managed to visit a truly jewel-box shop, which was Vapstore Hospitalet.

I managed to drop in two minutes before siesta, which I didn’t know about, of course, and there was one person ahead of me. The saleswoman was very kind, and at the same time, she knew her stuff. Without batting an eye, she put together a longfill for the person from its components. (A nostalgic flash of the good old days hit me; at Eagle Vapors, ten of us years ago, Tomi used to mix the juices just like this in real-time.)

The shop itself is quite authentically Spanish, with most products being Bombo and Bombo collaborations, plus there’s also Herrera, Kings Crest, Don Cristo, A&L, Drifter, and a few lower-mid shelf brands. When it was my turn, the saleswoman profiled me with 3 questions; it was evident she loved what she does, but she put me aside because another person came in, and she quickly served them. After that, we talked for about 20-25 minutes, during which she hung up the siesta sign. I told her where I started from, what I use now, which surprised her, especially since I no longer tinker with hardware or liquids when traveling; I received a 4-flavor V@psolot from a buddy, and came out with that… We talked about the situation back home, Vaperina. The joy was visible on her face that such communities embrace this hobby worldwide. We agreed I would take a Longfill, for 20 euros, no mixing needed, then I asked her to take down Mind Flayer - Bombo’s “Atemporal Reserve” from the shelf, and asked for her opinion on it. It turned out to be her Top 3. By the way, it’s a white chocolate Supra. I said, “Okay, I’ll take a Caramel (Dulce) Kings Crest too,” but by then I had already paid. She said, “Let this be a gift, and have a Merry Christmas.” I thanked her readily with a beatific smile, considering that this would have also cost around 20… We said goodbye, and I told her she would play a role in my article, which she was particularly pleased about.

We arrived in Valencia yesterday, we’ll be here until the 29th. I’ve scouted out two shops here as well, and I might manage to visit both on the 26th-27th, then I’ll write about those too.

Once again, I wish all dear Vaperinas and Vapers a Merry Christmas, rich in greasy clouds and blessed moments!

To be continued in the coming days in the comments…

We’ve been in Valencia for almost a week. The city is beautiful, less hectic, and compared to Barcelona, it’s enveloped in an aura of tranquility. We survived Christmas, which for the Spanish is Dec 25th. Shops were open on the 24th and already open again on the 26th. Today, I had a free morning amidst my schedule, so I set out, and my next destination was Vapeo Nurandena, about 3 streets away from our accommodation. Online reviews of the shop are very good; checking the website showed a wide selection, so I arrived with high hopes. The shop is much larger than the previous one in Barcelona. As soon as I entered, I felt (shelves full, a sofa, a large customer area, and the small soldering station in the back for repairs) that the service here would be of high quality… Yes, at most for the Spanish regulars. The seller, you see, doesn’t speak English. No big deal, the world won’t end because of this, pull out a translator, and start using universal keywords. Yes, but after my third question, utter indifference showed on the seller’s face. This is probably a shop that operates with a maximum of two questions:

  1. What can I get you? (Optional)
  2. Card, or cash?

While I was trying to zoom in on all the shelves, two customers came in, and he immediately handed them their usual. One took two Aldonzás, the other two Nutty Suprás in longfill. There wasn’t much communication.

Meanwhile, I found my first choice, a collaboration also by Bombo - Mind Flayer. I was looking for something special for my good friend who is feeding our cat back home, and I had read good things about the Herrera brand, and I wanted something similar to Bombo - Pompeii, so I researched and found out it was Boj. I took this off the shelf too. Before paying, I asked him one more question, to find out if I was indeed being ignored with all my questions:

I asked about Herrera, if it was Comó RY4? (Is it like RY4?) and his answer was a dismissive “Jeee”. So yes, I was being ignored. I had a rough idea of the scent profile, which has nothing to do with what I smelled after leaving, and I was right.

I have not a single bad word to say about the shop itself, but if you happen to wander this way, come in with a very specific plan.

And the two lucky ones:

We’re still here tomorrow-the-day-after-tomorrow, then two days in Barcelona again before we head home. If I still have time to shop there, a continuation is expected in the comment section.

Different culture, Uncle Zoli… From this perspective, I feel a bit like an outsider with my pedantry… These people act all day as if they were on vacation. Maybe I could get used to it over time, but I miss the atmosphere back home more… And the Danis too.

My mate is selling in a vape shop in Malta, they looked at the GT4 from his hand and asked what it was?
They only know the atomizer and mixing it yourself…they know that.
It was the best-selling TPA aroma which they mixed at 10-15% because it’s tasty for them like that :joy:

For me, the nice-smelling shop was Eagle Tomi’s at Oktogon. I traveled up from Veszprém monthly, spending hours there, although most of the time I was waiting for the SSD replacement in my laptop at the Blaha shop… It broke down four times in a year…

I’ve also taken out my Provari-GT combo a few times on the Croatian coast… since then I’ve been vacationing with Vapsolo. It lasts a week, no need to mess around with batteries and liquids on the airplane…

Luckily, or I don’t know… I don’t fly :joy: I go everywhere by car, even to the corner bakery.
If I didn’t go by car, they would think I don’t have money for gas :joy:

With two kids, there wasn’t much of a choice. If we came by car, it was either me smashing the Altea’s windshield from the Peppa Pig flood, or them kicking the door off mid-drive from its absence…:rofl::rofl:
