Aspire Flexus Pro POD Kit Review

I’m bringing you a product from Calumette’s range again, namely the Aspire Flexus Pro POD Kit. The saying “small but mighty” applies to this device! Although the Flexus Pro primarily targets beginners, I think it can be perfect for anyone who likes compact devices that produce intense flavors and doesn’t mind if it has a replaceable coil and a built-in battery. At first glance, from its appearance, I thought I was dealing with a truly robust and elegant POD. Then, as I started using it, it became more and more lovable to me. It’s not a complicated device, and that’s precisely where its beauty lies. Clean and simple inside and out, it delivers what it should and what we expect, and perhaps even more! The ASP Chip contributes to a stable vaping experience accompanied by abundant vapor. Of course, it is equipped with protection against short circuits, overheating, low voltage, and low resistance. But it also has a cutoff protection, which means the ASP Chip does not allow puffs longer than 7 seconds, but this is not bothersome, as its vapor production is so intense that we don’t even reach 7 seconds, we are so quickly satisfied by the abundant vapor. Furthermore, it also has open circuit protection, which I still don’t understand why it needs to be listed, because according to physics, it’s completely basic that we cannot operate the device without a pod, or rather, no e-cigarette works without resistance, so, yeah…

It is available in a total of 6 colors: Fuchsia, Pink, Black, Blue Fade, Green, and Pearl White. Currently, only 4 of these colors are available on the Calumette website: Black, Pink, Blue Fade, and Fuchsia. Among these, the distinctly elegant Black version arrived to me. Let’s take a closer look!

Aspire Flexus Pro POD Kit Review

Box Contents and Getting to Know the Device

There isn’t much in the box, although we don’t need anything else to get started. Next to the POD, we find the charging cable and a 1 ohm AF Meshed coil. Underneath the POD’s slot, we find the user manual. A 0.6 ohm Meshed coil is pre-installed in the POD.

Thanks to its minimalist style, it’s a very elegant piece. The one-piece aluminum alloy casing promises to be very durable. Only the plastic covers on the front and back have some pattern, which prevents its appearance from being too monotonous.

The airflow slider is located on the left side. Although the hole looks small, it can allow a lot of air through, allowing both types of coils to cool perfectly. The slider itself is quite tight, which is noticeable when we want to restrict the airflow slightly. It is also stable, does not wobble, and does not move from its set position. In the fully closed state, it does not let any air in at all.

There is nothing on the back except the model name, but to avoid having too few letters here, I’ll tell you that it’s not slippery at all, and I find the grip comfortable, although it’s a bit narrow, but I won’t fault it considering it’s a POD, and at least it’s not excessively thin. It measures 114.5 x 26 x 15.5mm, so I think it has very good dimensions for a POD.

Only the fire button is located on the front, with the pressure point at the top. While this is not bothersome during use, it could cause a problem over time that it’s not exactly in the center. It’s not overly sensitive, but it doesn’t require excessive force either.

The 3ml cartridge comes with a 0.6 ohm Meshed coil pre-installed, which won’t activate until you remove the sticker from the connector. A TPD Edition is also available, which has a 2ml capacity POD. Its material is PCTG (polycyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate), which has excellent impact resistance. The magnets in the POD and the device are strong, providing a noticeable connection, yet it’s easy to remove. The POD itself is slightly narrower than the slot in the device, but this makes it easy to insert, and fortunately, it doesn’t wobble, which is also thanks to the strong magnets.

The filling port is located on the side of the POD, secured by an orange rubber plug to prevent liquid from leaking out. Its sealing is very good, although it’s advisable not to overfill this POD, as it can cause gurgling, but a single puff can end that. Leaking is not really common, but since we are talking about a POD with a replaceable coil, a lot depends on the coil itself.

The coil can be removed with a simple motion by gripping it at the bottom and pulling it out for replacement. There are two O-rings on it, one at the top (chimney) and one at the bottom where it connects to the lower part of the POD. The seal holds the coil securely in place, and leakage is not typical. A version with a built-in coil is also available for the POD, but in my opinion, it would be a shame to throw away the PCTG POD too soon, as it’s not designed for short-term use, so opting for the replaceable coil variant is more worthwhile and practical. This POD accepts the two types of AF Meshed coils with resistances that come with the device, namely 0.6 and 1 ohm. These follow the MTL and RDL trends, but there is also a 0.4 ohm option, which is intended for DL use.

The USB C charging port is located at the bottom of the device, which can charge the 1200mAh built-in battery from 0 to 100% in 30-35 minutes with 2A fast charging!

The brightness of the 0.54" OLED display is perfect; it shows all the important data that needs to be monitored during use, such as the ohm value, wattage, battery percentage, and puff duration. It does not count puffs by default.

While it doesn’t have a menu, it has a one-button navigation system. This means that pressing the fire button 3 times quickly makes the wattage value flash, and by repeatedly pressing the fire button, you can cycle through wattages from 5 watts up to 30 watts, one watt at a time. The coils included in the box operate below 20 watts, but the separately purchasable 0.4 ohm coil requires over 20 watts, so this device will likely utilize its maximum 30-watt capability. When the wattage value is flashing, holding down the fire button will allow you to reach the desired power. It does not loop back once 30 watts is reached, but as soon as you release the fire button, it starts flashing again, meaning you can start adjusting the wattage again. Since there is only a small difference between the recommended wattage ranges for the included coils, it’s better to adjust watt by watt.

Furthermore, if you press the fire button 4 times quickly instead of 3, you can change the firing mode, which are as follows:

  • A Mode: Auto-draw (vapes only with the draw sensor)
  • B Mode: Button activated (vapes only by pressing the button)
  • AB Mode: Auto-draw and Button activated (vapes with both the draw sensor and the button). We don’t have to wait for the display to switch back to showing values if we want to change the firing mode; it’s enough to repeat 4 quick fire button presses until it displays the mode name, and it switches in the meantime. Honestly speaking, I was waiting for a POD like this, because using only the auto-draw (vacuum switch) causes some difficulties in vaping, like e.g. overheating in the case of semi-mech PODs, and I think the atomizer cannot cool down properly, therefore it wears out faster. So this is a very useful feature!

Never underestimate PODs, because they can easily beat even an RTA! Whether this is true for the Flexus Pro, we’ll find out now.

Experience Report

The aluminum alloy body and the PCTG material POD make the entire device very durable. It has fallen from the table onto the parquet floor about six times (from about 1 meter) and I still don’t see any scratches on the body or the display! Now I almost make a sport out of dropping it, because I always want to put it down standing up, but due to its narrowness, it usually wobbles, causing it to fall over or drop if it’s near the edge of the table. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to place it lying down! During the two-week test period, as usual, it came into contact with zippers and keychains, but no external impact affected it! Although after the falls, I would have been surprised if it had. So we can state that this is a durable POD! The magnets of the POD and the device are strong enough, there’s a noticeable pull when inserting and removing it, but despite this, it’s not too difficult to remove. The POD itself has a relatively large filling hole, so refilling is easy even from bottles with wider drip tips. However, if we are not quick enough during filling, it can gurgle, but this stops immediately as soon as we start using it. The mouthpiece is comfortably rounded, which makes it more pleasant to use. The fire button does not rattle, it is built very stably, although it slightly bothers me that its pressure point is not in the center, but on the upper part of the button. This is not noticeable during use, as we cannot press it so low that it doesn’t fire. The airflow control slider is solid; once set to a position, it won’t move from there, neither in a pocket nor in a bag! The included USB cable is quite difficult to plug into the connector, so I used my phone’s cable, which has slightly different dimensions, so it was a bit loose in the POD’s connector. You don’t need to worry about this; the connector in the POD is perfectly and solidly in place, I checked. This implies that my cable might be a bit worn out. The 0.54" OLED display is clearly visible both indoors and outdoors, although the values on it are a bit small. Despite this, they are clearly legible because the numbers don’t smudge. In terms of usability, it is very light and simple.

The ASP Chip performs excellently in this small device. The atomization is powerful even at low wattage, so we don’t have to stick to the wattage range specified by the manufacturer; we can safely go below it, neither the flavor nor the vapor will suffer, but the battery will be grateful for it. While in use, the battery charge indicator doesn’t decrease by percentages; it stays at one value for a long time, sometimes showing the same for over an hour, then it suddenly shows much less. This, and the battery life, depends on how much we use it. But it is very promising that even with my continuous use, it managed to last a full day without charging. So I don’t think there’s any room for complaint here. The last puff is maximally powerful, so if we don’t look at the battery percentage, we won’t notice that it’s about to run out; it simply stops producing vapor.

I first used the included 0.6 ohm atomizer. The manufacturer recommends using it between 15-18 watts, but 12 watts was more than enough for me, as there was no noticeable difference in flavor at higher wattages, and only a slight improvement in vapor, so I saw no need to run the atomizer at maximum. Not to mention, it was better for the battery this way. The flavor is literally amazing! The vapor is absolutely satisfying, not too much, yet palpable.

The next was the 1 ohm atomizer, with a manufacturer’s recommendation of 12-15 watts. 9 watts was sufficient for this as well. The airflow hole of the atomizer is narrower here, but not too narrow, and it’s no longer RDL at all. We get a pleasantly airy MTL, with a flavor that is also amazing! There’s no shortage of vapor here either, even at 9 watts, but the vapor is no longer as palpable, though it is noticeable.

The 0.4 ohm atomizer was not included in the package, but it is also available for purchase on the Calumette website, along with the other two. The manufacturer’s recommended wattage range for this is 20-28 watts, but I suspect it won’t need that much either.

There’s no need to fiddle with the airflow control slider when it’s fully open, as the airflow hole on the atomizers allows just the right amount of air. It’s also typical for devices with built-in batteries that the ohm value and the set wattage range determine the battery life. With the 0.6 ohm atomizer, I was able to use the device for approximately 11 hours on a single charge, which I think is not bad for a 1200mAh battery. With the 1 ohm atomizer, it lasted even longer, I could vape continuously for about 15 hours! Continuous use for me means that since I can use it anywhere at work, this gadget was literally always in my mouth. Therefore, it won’t be surprising if some people get more than 1 day of use out of it. Fortunately, it can be used while charging; it only slightly extends the charging time, by about 10-15 minutes, if we keep taking puffs continuously, but this can be less depending on how much it’s used in between. If we put it on charge at 0%, it’s worth waiting until it reaches at least 3% before using it if we can’t wait for it to fully charge. I couldn’t wait, but using it at 1-2% caused it to immediately drop back to zero; from 3% onwards, it charged properly even with intermittent use.

It’s hard to put into words the flavors provided by the AF Meshed Coils; they are so intense and amazing! This is naturally due to the narrow chamber, so it wasn’t such a surprise. I knew it would deliver good flavors, I just didn’t expect it to deliver them so intensely that I would barely think of my RTAs myself during the two weeks. According to the manufacturer, 60VG/40PG is the ideal ratio for the Flexus Pro, but I had no problems using it with a 50/50 liquid ratio. As I mentioned, it perfectly conveys all flavors, including additives, so sweet is truly sweet, and dry is truly dry! You will absolutely not feel any lack if you choose the Flexus Pro POD!

—### Pros :white_check_mark:

  • PCTG Pod and Aluminum Alloy Housing. I’m glad that the device housing is made of aluminum alloy, and the pod is made of the well-known PCTG, because as small and lightweight as it is, it easily falls to the floor, at least for me. But thanks to the excellent material usage, we don’t have to worry about it breaking too quickly.
  • Ease of Use. Although there is no menu, the wattage and firing mode can be adjusted via one-button navigation, which I think is easy to get used to and simple to use this way. It is particularly noteworthy that with the Flexus Pro, we can decide whether to vape our favorite liquids with a draw-activated switch or a fire button, which I am personally very happy about!
  • Satisfactory Battery Life. I think a 1-day battery life is perfect for this level of vaping intensity. Since it’s only 1200mAh, I was afraid it wouldn’t last, but it performed like a pro!
  • Clearly Visible Display. All values on the OLED display are sharp and therefore clearly legible. It is also outstanding that all data is visible both outdoors and indoors, even though it is only 0.54".
  • Easy Refilling. The filling port on the pod is large enough to easily and conveniently refill from any bottle. However, be careful: if you’re not quick or the filling port is left open for too long, it can cause gurgling. Although this disappears with the next puff, don’t leave that small hole open for too long, because sooner or later all the cotton will let liquid through!
  • Fast Charging. That 30-35 minutes is quite something! I think this greatly enhances its user-friendliness. Moreover, you can use it while charging, so life doesn’t stop when you plug it in.
  • Lightweight and Comfortable to Hold. With its 58 grams, it can be considered very light, but perhaps I would describe it as only the weight of the battery being noticeable, which is not much. Since it’s not too thin, it has a very comfortable grip, and even the fire button is in a perfect position.
  • Flavorful Atomizers, Huge Vapor. It’s hard to describe what surpasses everything else! Intense and lifelike! This, of course, wouldn’t be the case if there wasn’t mesh in the atomizers. They are incredibly flavorful! You can produce huge clouds of vapor even at lower wattages than the manufacturer’s recommendation.
  • Good Airflow. Although there is an external airflow control slider, the airflow holes of the atomizers ensure that you don’t even need to touch the slider. Aspire has managed to get the airflow just right!

Contra :negative_squared_cross_mark:

  • The fire button’s pressure point is not centered. I’m a bit bothered by how it was designed. Furthermore, the button tilts upwards, as I saw in the pictures, on all Flexus Pros. In any case, there’s no problem with it for now, and I hope there won’t be, but it’s still strange and worries me a little.
  • It doesn’t count puffs. This is just nitpicking! I miss it because I like to know and track how many puffs I’ve taken, but the world won’t end because of it.

In conclusion, I think the Aspire Flexus Pro POD Kit is perfect for those switching over, beginners, or advanced users, and even for someone like me who has been vaping for double-digit years. In short, for anyone who loves intense flavor experiences and abundant vapor! It’s light, small, practical, and simple! Almost unbeatable in flavor and vapor!

Thank you for reading! Have a nice day! :hugs:

szia!
kérdezném, hogy gőze meleg vagy hűvösebb? A TH mtl-ben van?
köszi!

Szia. Alacsonyabb ellenállású porlasztóval csak langyos, nem melegszik túl egyáltalán, se a gőz se a PODfej. TH-t POD-ban ne keress, a vertikális tekerés miatt nulla! Viszont cserébe ütős ízeket hoz. :slightly_smiling_face:
