Hi everyone ![]()
We’ve been thinking a lot about how we could solve this sensitive issue of what to do with external links?
For understandable reasons, many people are reluctant to share, for example, a webshop link publicly, but should everything then go private? That, however, would no longer be about the free flow of information. ![]()
We believe that a compromise solution has been found, which simultaneously aids the free flow of information while minimizing other risks.
We are now restricting the display of external links found in posts!
Logged Out
From the outside, we have already been redirecting all visitors to the login page (with the exception of a few public pages).
However, search engine bots were able to crawl public content independently of this, and these could appear in Google search results.
Change:
From now on, search engine bots will not see external links in public posts, and logged-out visitors will be redirected to the login page.
Logged In (Trust Level 0)
For new users (Trust Level 0), we will replace all external links with this link…
[link available from trust level 1]
…which redirects them to the Community Building at its Finest! (Trust Levels, Restrictions) topic.
In other words, they will not see the links until they reach the first trust level.
At Trust Level 1
Here, we no longer hide the links completely, but we do not display them immediately either.
In their place, this will be visible:
[View Link]
If the user clicks on it, the link itself will appear.
This solution clearly requires additional user interaction, therefore it cannot be considered automatic advertising. [1]
From Trust Level 2 upwards
Links will continue to be displayed for users at higher trust levels.
We believe this system simultaneously:
- promotes safer operation
- does not hinder the flow of information
- provides greater protection in legal grey areas
We hope this also helps Vaperina remain a calm, safe, and free place!

We have also updated the topic Közösségépítés felsőfokon! (bizalmi szintek, korlátozások) with these new restrictions.
We are currently observing how things work with this distribution, and if adjustments are needed, this may change…
Although I would be quite surprised if it were considered that anyway, but better safe than sorry. ↩︎
