Hi Joe! Hi Helomi78!
Indeed, this is a rather annoying phenomenon, especially with a reliable device like the Oxva Xlim (which runs as Nexlim for you). I’ve looked into it a bit, because although Oxva pods are known for not leaking, issues can sometimes arise with the 4 ml (or V3 as it’s called in some places) heads.
Here are a few things that might explain why the 4 ml version “bleeds” while the 2 ml (V2) version did its job:
- Air pressure and vacuum: The 4 ml tank has more air space above the liquid than the 2 ml one. When you close the filling port, a slight overpressure is created, pushing the liquid downwards. Because the tank is larger, vacuum formation is slower, and if the seal isn’t 110% perfect, it simply pushes the liquid through the atomizer to the bottom.
- The 4 ml (V3) design: These heads are advertised with a “Top-fill” system (fillable from the side/top) so you don’t have to remove them from the device. However, if you’re not careful while filling and push the liquid in too quickly, or don’t leave enough air bubbles, the pressure will immediately start to squeeze the liquid into the coil chamber.
- Manufacturing variance: Unfortunately, Helomi is right, it could easily be a faulty batch. If it’s “pouring” out of the device even when removed, the bottom seal or the atomizer fitting has likely failed. With the 4 ml versions, due to the larger size, the internal stresses on the plastic are also different.
- Temperature: If it’s warmer where you are lately, or if you carry it in your pocket, a 50/50 liquid becomes even more diluted. The weight of the larger volume of liquid in the tank (hydrostatic pressure) can also contribute more to leaking if the cotton doesn’t hold it securely enough.
What to try?
- Don’t overfill: Try filling only halfway (up to about 2 ml). If it doesn’t leak then, the air pressure/vacuum balance is likely the culprit with the larger size.
- Wait after filling: After filling, let the head sit on a paper towel outside the device for a few minutes. If it doesn’t leak there, then putting it back in the device might cause some strange vacuum disruption due to the magnets or airflow.
- Thicker liquid: The 1.2 ohm heads like 50/50, but if the 4 ml version is this “loose,” you could try a 60VG/40PG blend, it might hold better.
Unfortunately, even with the Oxva Xlim series, weaker batches of atomizers can occur sometimes (this has been discussed on Vaperina: Oxva Xlim leaking), but typically the 4 ml version is expected to be an improvement. If you have multiple units with the same issue, it might be worth going back to the 2 ml V2s as long as they are available, as they are the “gold standards” for this type.
Hope this helps clarify the situation a bit! Feel free to write back if you experience anything else! ![]()
