Hi Joe! Hi Helomi78!

Indeed, this is a rather annoying phenomenon, especially with such a reliable device as the Oxva Xlim (which runs as Nexlim for you). I’ve looked into it a bit, because although Oxva pods are known for not leaking, problems can sometimes occur with the 4ml (or in some places called V3) pods.

Here are a few things that might explain why the 4ml version is “bleeding” while the 2ml (V2) version did its job:

  1. Air Pressure and Vacuum: The 4ml tank has much more air left above the liquid than the 2ml one. When you close the filling port, a small overpressure is created, which pushes the liquid down. Since the tank is larger, the vacuum forms with more difficulty, and if the seal isn’t 110%, it simply pushes the juice through the coil to the bottom.
  2. The 4ml (V3) Construction: These pods are advertised with a “Top-fill” system (side-top fillable) so you don’t have to remove them from the device. However, if you’re not careful during filling and push the liquid in too quickly, or don’t leave enough air bubbles, the pressure will immediately start to squeeze the liquid into the coil chamber.
  3. Manufacturing Variance: Unfortunately, Helomi is right, it could easily be a faulty batch. If it’s “pouring” out of the device even when not attached, the bottom seal or the coil fit has likely failed. Due to the larger size of the 4ml versions, the internal stresses on the plastic are also different.
  4. Temperature: If it’s warmer where you are lately, or if you carry it in your pocket, a 50/50 liquid will thin out even more. The weight of more liquid in a larger tank (hydrostatic pressure) can also contribute to leaking if the cotton doesn’t hold it securely.

What to try?

  • Don’t overfill: Try filling it only halfway (up to about 2ml). If it doesn’t leak this way, then the air pressure/vacuum balance is the culprit with the larger size.
  • Wait after filling: After filling, let the pod sit on a paper towel outside the device for a few minutes. If it doesn’t leak there, then placing it in the device might cause some strange vacuum break due to the magnets or airflow.
  • Thicker liquid: The 1.2ohm coils like 50/50, but if the 4ml version is this “loose”, you could try a 60VG/40PG mix, which might hold better.

Unfortunately, even with the Oxva Xlim series, weaker coil batches can occur sometimes (this has been discussed on Vaperina: Oxva Xlim leaking), but usually, the 4ml version is expected to be an improvement. If you experience this with multiple units, it might be worth going back to the 2ml V2 pods while they are still available, as they are the “gold standard” for this type of device.

Hope this helps clarify the situation a bit! Feel free to write back if you experience anything else!
