Probably this topic has already gotten a bit out of hand, and the colleague has also ghosted our wonderful platform. I was with the kids all afternoon and couldn’t voice my opinion, so I’m doing it now, here it is, read it.
So you want to know about the plus 100,000 in added value you’re looking for, which is why you think this is an unnecessarily overpriced, overhyped thing.
Let’s look at the dry facts:
Dry Fact 1: It costs as much as the Provari, the Semovar, and the Taifun Eye (just to mention a few – I’ve had quite a few in my hands over 15 years) for the same reason: for the small-batch quality. To understand this:
Dry Fact 2: You’ve probably never been an entrepreneur, or you haven’t had/don’t have a company/business… But I’ll help, as I’ve been running my business for 12 years:
Dry Fact 3: To be able to manufacture and sell such a product, you first have to set up a manufactory. Then you need to procure the manufacturing tools, the parts/raw materials, and the expertise, as well as rent a manufacturing building, unless your grandparents left you a fully equipped garage. All of these cost money, and you haven’t even manufactured anything yet. So you start from a significant deficit. There are businesses, companies that solve this with loans, the system is the same. You start manufacturing, you start selling, HURRAY! And then you start paying the workforce, social security contributions, corporate tax, electricity bills, heating, purchasing new raw materials, support service colleagues, patent rights, etc., etc… In Germany, there are probably other items too, but I’ve described the basics. (ed.: the main point is missing here: for these people, this is their only source of livelihood…)
Meanwhile, China: buys such a device, parameters it, puts it on an automated mass-production line, then throws in some DNA electronics, changes one letter in the name to bypass the patent, and sells it for half or a third of the price. Does the product break down after two months? Well, you screwed up, you little shit… Warranty? What’s that? But if we look at a simple Chinese product, not this case, it’s even simpler, especially if it’s made of plastic, because then the 3D printer spits it out from the conveyor belt, and the Chinese worker working for peanuts somehow solders in some cheap low-budget electronics. (Perhaps Yihi is a minimal exception to this.)
So the story isn’t quite parallel anymore, is it…?
Dry Fact 4: If you had used the search function in this community, you would have seen that this brand has a serious cult following and reputation here. And yes: there are people here, quite a few, who buy it because they appreciate quality, crave uniqueness, don’t shy away from supporting European retailers against China, and most importantly: they open their mouths, defend their principles and the honor of their brand, and invite dialogue. At this point, you might rightly think that part of the community is against you, but that’s not true, you’ve just managed to piss into the wind…
Regardless of this, I have accepted what you wrote. More will remain in the buy-sell groups for me and a few others.

Dicodes electronics are exemplarily high-quality, precise, and durable devices, even alongside the base boards of many other manufacturers. If someone doesn’t like its menu, that’s a completely different matter; it doesn’t qualify the product itself.
