A&L Ultimate Luna and Spartacus Experience Report

I’ve brought another flavor test, courtesy of Calumette, though only two this time. I’m going to analyze two members of the A&L manufacturer’s Ultimate series, which we all know: Luna and Spartacus. The French A&L is designed and manufactured entirely within France’s borders. All A&L aromas comply with both French and European standards, and as the manufacturer puts it, this is the guarantee of quality!

First, I must admit that I exceeded the steeping time by 2 days, meaning I tasted them for the first time at 5 days old. One thing is for sure, they steeped well, although their color didn’t really get darker during steeping. Both aromas are Sweet Edition, which means they specifically draw attention to the fact that they contain sweetener. They are available in 30ml bottles on the Calumette website, so they are quite economical, and they require a dilution of less than 10%. Let’s see what I think of them!

Luna

According to the manufacturer, it’s ripe cherry and strawberry, boosted with a cooling agent.

The aroma is quite intense and smells of sweet cherry! The strawberry is also noticeable, but just barely, which gives the already ripe cherry a more pleasant and special flavor. The cooling agent is not detectable at all from the smell, but this is deceptive, so we won’t escape the cooling sensation!

In terms of taste, in MTL with a wire coil, freshly wicked, it slightly resembled cherry blossom for the first few puffs. The cooling agent still needs a moment to kick in, but as the coil heats up, it arrives together with the flavor. As we vape and time progresses, the flavor becomes fainter, but the cooling agent, on the other hand, gets stronger. You could say they swap intensities, and the flavors are turned upside down. I only vaped one tank of it in MTL, with a wire coil, of course, but by the time the tank was empty, the flavors had slowly disappeared. Instead, I got a faint fruity breeze with cooling, which, I admit, wasn’t that great.

However, with the POD atomizer, it’s a flavor orgy cubed, but only moderately! Not too intrusive, not too sweet! The cooling agent here showed some sweetness too, although perhaps the cooling agent seemed sweet due to the already sweet flavor combination. The same effect is characteristic for DL wicking, and likely the same fantastic flavor experience awaits us with MTL Clapton.

Since it wasn’t the best with a wire coil, but fortunately excellent with everything else, I’ll describe my best experience below.

On inhale, I don’t think the strawberry can be distinguished separately; rather, we get a cherry-strawberry composition where sweet cherry is the dominant flavor, which has thoroughly incorporated the strawberry. It’s noticeable on exhale, but the cherry still relentlessly dominates the strawberry. All this is in a perfectly sweet guise. The cooling agent deserves a mention, as it slowly emerges on inhale, but becomes stronger at the end of the puff. It’s not particularly sweet, arrives a bit earlier, and is completely separate from the flavors, thanks to which it doesn’t fade later! There are many flavors on the market where the cooling agent fades with the flavor during gunking, well, Luna is not like that! With this flavor, the coil gunking occurs relatively late, partly thanks to the cooling agent, partly due to the low dilution percentage, but most importantly, due to RDL or DL usage. It cannot handle heat! It’s quite an interesting phenomenon, meaning that if our tank heats up, the excessive temperature can suppress and distort the flavors, so this flavor is better and more enjoyable from a more airy device! As an aftertaste, we can still feel the cherry-strawberry for a while, but these disappear from the taste buds first, then the sweet flavor also dissipates, and finally, the cooling agent is what keeps it fresh for many minutes.

Overall, it’s not an overly ostentatious flavor, yet it’s marvelous! The blend of cherry and strawberry is not excessively sweet, and the cooling agent, while it can be quite intense, is only pleasantly so, not freezing. Unfortunately, it’s not the best with a wire coil, but it’s not completely unvapeable either. However, I would recommend Luna from RDL with MTL Clapton, or from DL, or with Mesh. Besides, I unequivocally declare it an all-day flavor!

Dilution: 8%, Recommended Ratio: 50PG/50VG, Steeping: 2-3 days

Spartacus

According to the manufacturer, it’s a blend of juicy nectarine and lemon, with a hint of freshness.

The aroma is quite strong, almost as much as the undiluted aroma itself. A very pleasant, captivating lemon-peach. The lemon greatly enhances its aroma, making the peach feel fresh, but the lemon is also slightly noticeable on its own. The hint of freshness, which would be realized as a mild cooling agent, is not detectable from the smell.

In terms of taste, when vaped in MTL with a wire coil, it hardly resembles what’s in the description. The sweetish, slightly peachy flavor peeked through here and there, but just like with Luna, only the cooling agent dominated, which was amplified at the expense of the flavors in the MTL line. As time went on, the sweetness also disappeared from that something that resembled a slightly sweet peach. This is not unvapeable either, but unfortunately, it’s not compatible with a wire coil.

However, from a POD, it’s excellent! There’s a delicious, mouth-watering sweet flavor in abundance, and the cooling agent hasn’t gone anywhere, just like from DL.

Here too, I’ll summarize my best experience which I had from a POD and a DL tank.

Flavor bomb! Even the smell was a giveaway, as it’s intense, accompanied by a sweetness that captivates! The peach, or nectarine, cannot be called juicy; it’s more reminiscent of a better quality syrup, but it’s simply so intense and sweet that when you inhale, you’ll say, “This is what I was looking for!” The nectarine, although not much different from peach, in this case, it’s an unmistakably peachy flavor, which the tartness of the lemon cannot mar. The lemon, which is not really noticeable on inhale, is very close behind the peach on exhale. Its sweetness is arguably insane! It doesn’t drag out the flavors towards a sweetener aftertaste, but rather adds a huge boost to the experience, making the harmony sweetly intoxicating, but the peach still remains dominant. The cooling agent is present only to a small extent, as if we were snacking on chilled peaches, but in my opinion, this is just enough. As an aftertaste, the sweet peach remains in our mouths; I didn’t detect the lemon here anymore. The mild cooling agent fades almost simultaneously with the sweet peach, which, in the case of Spartacus, encourages another puff!

Overall, I think it’s a very lovable flavor. The duo of peach and lemon goes very well together, although peach takes the lead role, and of course, the sweet undertone. The cooling agent prevents the flavor from becoming dull or overly sweet. In short: Perfect! Unfortunately, this flavor will also not be suitable with a wire coil, but it’s fantastic from RDL with MTL Clapton, from DL, and with Mesh!

Dilution: 9%, Recommended Ratio: 50PG/50VG, Steeping: 2-3 days

Devices

  • Aspire Flexus Pro POD, 1 ohm AF Meshed Coil
  • Hellvape Dead Rabbit Solo, 5 wraps on a 3mm inner diameter Coilogy Ni80 Clapton 26/36g, Vapefly Cotton Cloud’s cotton
  • Innokin Ares Finale, 6 wraps on a 2.5mm inner diameter Zivipf Kanthal A1, Vapefly Cotton Cloud’s cotton

It is important to note here that the Flexus Pro atomizers are mesh atomizers, so for these aromas, the heating surface is key!

Finally, I would like to leave you with this parting thought: I believe these flavors are only compatible with RDL and DL setups, but there they are so good that you already knew it, I just didn’t know it until now. It’s also true that I rarely consume fruity flavors, and when I do, I usually look for something simpler without cooling. Therefore, A&L Ultimate was a novelty for me, and I was absolutely not disappointed. Vaping from a DL tank is total bliss! In the best sense of the word.

Thank you for reading! Have a nice day! :hugs:

Köszönjük a részletes beszámolót!

Úgy látom jó szolgálatot tesz a DR Solo. Kapudrog lenne a DL világba? Még egy pár hónap és már dual coilos RDA-val készülnek az íztesztek

Köszönöm, örülök, hogy tetszett. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Egyébként én kb 6 évvel ezelőtt még dual DL-ben (is) nyomtam. Csak azóta lenyugodtam. A DR Solo nekem most pont tökéletes, ha DL-ről van szó. Már nem vágyódom a dual coil felé. :slightly_smiling_face:

Ez azt jelenti, hogy MTL-ben kiegyensúlyozatlan?

Köszi a szuper tesztet:hugs:

Így is mondhassuk… MTL-ben a hűsítő dominál, az ízek meg nagyon haloványak. DL-ből kell ezeket.
